Peterborough City Hospital
Peterborough City Hospital is an acute teaching hospital on the Edith Cavell Healthcare Campus serving the city of Peterborough, north Cambridgeshire, areas of east Northamptonshire and Rutland. It is managed by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital was procured under a Private Finance Initiative contract in 2007 to replace Peterborough District Hospital and the Edith Cavell Hospital. It was designed by Nightingale Associates and built on the site of the Edith Cavell Hospital by Multiplex at a cost of £340 million and opened to patients in November 2010. The official opening was carried out by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in November 2012. In same month, the National Audit Office reported that the Trust board's poor financial management and procurement of the scheme, which had been unaffordable, had left the Trust in a critical financial position. North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust was formed on 1 April 2017 from the acquisition of Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust by Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Shelf (sexual Health Service), Peterborough
Shelf is a voluntary organisation created with the aim of bringing new levels of sexual health awareness to young people of the United Kingdom. It is unique in that it was founded by four Year 10 students of Peterborough in April 2007 and is still currently owned and operated by them. It was founded with support from members of Peterborough City Council and the Peterborough NHS Primary Care Trust. Shelf runs via a website and distributed brochures containing information on sexual health and links to local support organisations. History Shelf was originally created as a business idea to be entered into "The Big Deal", a national business and enterprise challenge run by the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (NAGTY). Healthcare in Cambridgeshire was the responsibility of NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group until July 2022. This was one of the largest in the United Kingdom. History From 1947 to 1965, NHS services in Cambridgeshire were managed by the East Anglian Regional Hospital Board. In 1974, the boards were abolished and replaced by regional health authorities.
