Peter Wessel Wind Kildal
Peter Wessel Wind Kildal (24 November 1814 – 22 March 1882) was a Norwegian merchant and industrialist. Kildal was born at Borgund in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. He was the son of Ole Severin Kildal and Karen Friis Wind. He was the brother of politician, Peter Daniel Baade Wind Kildal. As a young man, Kildal went to Christiania (now Oslo) to apprentice with Christian Benneche who ran a general store. He opened his first mercantile store in Christiania in 1842. He gradually expanded other businesses into P. W. W. Kildal & Co. At Høyenhall in Østensjø, he owned the country's largest fruit plantation, at Hol in Ringsaker he owned a farm, a dairy and a potato flour factory. In 1863 he took over the Lilleborg Fabriker factory which remained family operated until 1897. He was married to Christine Marie Gotaas (1817-1900) and was the father of Birger Kildal. Birger Kildal
Birger Kildal (15 April 1849 – 13 December 1913) was a Norwegian attorney and businessman. He served as politician with the Liberal Party and was appointed District Governor in Romsdal. Background Kildal was born at Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of businessman and merchant Peter Wessel Wind Kildal and his wife, Christine Marie Gotaas (1817-1900). He took his law degree in 1871 and first worked as a lawyer in Hammerfest. He later went to work in his father's various commercial and industrial enterprises including Lilleborg Fabrikker which his father had founded in 1833. Peter Hersleb Graah Birkeland
Peter Hersleb Graah Birkeland (14 January 1807–5 January 1896) was a Norwegian priest in the Church of Norway. He served as Bishop of the Diocese of Bjørgvin from 1864–1880. Early life and family Peter Birkeland was born in the village of Borgund in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. He was the son of Lars Birkeland and Johanne Hellem Baade. He came from a family of ministers. His father was the chaplain at Borgund Church at the time of his birth and his maternal grandfather had also been a priest. In 1821 he went to Bergen Cathedral School and he graduated with a Cand.theol. degree in 1832. In 1836 he married Severine Elise Angell Gram in the Nidaros Cathedral. The couple had nine children, although some died in their youth. Their son Lauritz married Elen Lovise Augusta Kildal, a daughter of Peter Wessel Wind Kildal, niece of Peter Daniel Baade Wind Kildal, and sister of Birger Kildal. Borgund, Møre Og Romsdal
Borgund is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1837 until 1968 when it was merged into Ålesund Municipality. Borgund originally encompassed the large area north of the Storfjorden and south of the Grytafjorden, from the mainland areas of today's Skodje Municipality in the east to the islands of today's Giske Municipality and the ocean in the west. The city of Ålesund was located in the central part of Borgund, however, was not part of Borgund, and it was governed separately. At its dissolution in 1968, the municipality included the islands of Sula, Humla, Tørla, and Ellingsøya, as well as parts of Oksenøya, Hessa, and Nørvøya, plus many minor islands throughout the area.
