Peter Weightman
Peter Weightman (born 15 May 1949) is a former Australian rules football player and coach. He played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Weightman, who grew up playing in the Preston District Junior Football Association, played his only VFL game for Fitzroy in the 1969 VFL season. A rover, he kicked a goal in a 24-point loss to Hawthorn at Princes Park. He played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) for Preston from 1970 until 1976. From 1977 until 1978 he played with Yarrawonga in the Ovens & Murray Football League, before returning to Preston in 1979, both as a senior player and has the seconds coach. He retired from playing in 1980, finishing with a total of 118 senior games for Preston, but had continued success as coach of the club's seconds and thirds, leading both to premierships. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. The decision of the club to change its nickname to the Lions in 1957 coincided with what history now records as the beginning of decades of poor on-field performance and financial losses that eventually resulted in the club being placed into administration, ultimately leaving the AFL at the end of the 1996 season. David Dickson (footballer)
David Dickson (born 12 May 1952) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the VFL during the 1970s. Dickson, who went to school in Coburg, played his early football in the VFA with Preston. He made his Carlton debut in 1972, the same game that Alex Jesaulenko celebrated his 100th, and finished the year playing on the wing in their premiership side. Another Grand Final appearance followed in 1973 and Dickson, again playing as a wingman, finished on the losing team. Lisa Jane Weightman
Lisa Jane Weightman (born 16 January 1979) is an Australian long distance runner and four time Olympian who specializes in the marathon event. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Tokyo Olympics she came 26th in the Women's marathon with a time of 2:34.19, 7 minutes behind the eventual winner, Peres Jepchirchir. Weightman represented Australia in the marathon at the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. She won her first marathon race in 2010, setting a personal best time of 2:28:48 at the Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon. She has also competed at the IAAF World Road Running Championships and the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, winning a team bronze in the latter competition in 2008. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. The Preston Football Club, which trades and plays as the Northern Bullants, is a long-established Australian rules football club based in Preston, Victoria, Preston that plays in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL).
