Peter Warren (Royal Navy Officer)
Vice-Admiral Sir Peter Warren, KB (10 March 1703 – 29 July 1752) was an Anglo-Irish naval officer and politician who sat in the British House of Commons representing the constituency of Westminster from 1747 to 1752. Warren is best known for his career in the Royal Navy, which he served in for thirty-six years and participated in numerous naval engagements, including most notably the capture of the French fortress of Louisbourg in 1745. Born in Ireland to an Irish Catholic family, Warren's parents raised him as a Protestant in order to allow him to pursue a career at sea. In 1716, Warren enlisted in the Royal Navy, largely spending the next decade serving off the West African coast or in the Caribbean, participating in anti-piracy operations and confrontations with Spanish coast guard vessels. Peter Warren (born 1941) is a Canadian investigative journalist, private investigator, former talk radio host and member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Hall of Fame. Biography Born in London, one of three sons, himself, Tim Warren and John Warren. Warren worked briefly as a junior sports reporter on Fleet Street after being expelled from Dulwich College and then completing his education at Reigate Grammar School. He then moved to Canada where he wrote for various newspapers including The Calgary Herald, The Toronto Telegram, The Winnipeg Tribune (columnist),The Saint John Telegraph-Journal (columnist), The New York Standard. He has also written for Maclean's magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Manchester Guardian, TIME Magazine, and was a staff writer and columnist with The Hong Kong Star. Peter Michael Warren, (born 23 June 1938) is a British archaeologist and academic, specialising in the Aegean Bronze Age. From 1977 to 2001, he was Professor of Ancient History and Classical Archaeology at the University of Bristol, where he is currently Professor Emeritus and a senior research fellow at the university. Early life Warren was born on 23 June 1938. He was educated at Sandbach School, a boys school in Sandbach, Cheshire, and at Llandovery College, a private boys school in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire. He went on to study at the University College of North Wales, from which he graduated Bachelor of Arts (BA). He then undertook post-graduate research at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. Academic career Warren has been involved in a number of excavations. Peter Warren (born November 21, 1935, Hempstead, New York) is an American double-bassist and cellist. Warren learned cello as a child and studied the instrument formally, giving a recital at Carnegie Hall in 1953 and studying at Juilliard School. He also played with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra before switching to double-bass and studying jazz under Chuck Israels. He was Dionne Warwick's touring bassist from 1965 to 1967; following this he played with David Izenzon in the New York Bass Revolution. He worked in Belgium in the early 1970s, playing with Chick Corea, John Surman, Rolf Kuhn, Joachim Kuhn, Jean-Luc Ponty, Don Cherry, Terumasa Hino, Masahiko Sato, Albert Mangelsdorff, John Tchicai, Anthony Braxton, and Tomasz Stańko. In 1974 he settled once again in the US, playing with Jack DeJohnette and Carla Bley, and in 1976 he received a National Endowment for the Arts grant in cello composition.
