Peter Van Dijk (dancer)
Pieter "Peter" van Dijk (born 28 December 1952) is a Dutch politician, he served three terms in the Senate for the Party for Freedom in the period between 2011 and 2019. He is member of the States-Provincial of Zeeland since 10 March 2011. Life Van Dijk worked as an administrative employee in Vlissingen between 1977 and 1994. He later held jobs as manager, project leader and bus driver. From 1981 to 1990 he served for the Christian Democratic Appeal in the municipal council of Goes. He was made Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau on 11 February 2002. The Senate ( or simply ' , literally "First Chamber of the States General", or sometimes ' ) is the upper house of the States General, the legislature of the Netherlands. Its 75 members are elected on lists by the members of the twelve States-Provincial and four electoral colleges for the Senate every four years, within three months of the provincial elections. All provinces and colleges have different electoral weight depending on their population. Members of the Senate tend to be veteran or part-time politicians at the national level, often having other roles. They receive an allowance which is about a quarter of the salary of the members of the lower house. Unlike the politically more significant House of Representatives, it meets only once a week. The provincial council (, PS), also known as the States Provincial, is the provincial parliament and legislative assembly in each of the provinces of the Netherlands. It is elected for each province simultaneously once every four years and has the responsibility for matters of sub-national or regional importance. Gabriëlle Popken (born 21 August 1983) is a Dutch former politician for the Party for Freedom. She served in the Senate between 2011 and 2017 and subsequently in the House of Representatives between 2017 and 2020. Youth and education Popken was born in Geleen on 21 August 1983. Between 2003 and 2007 she studied law at Maastricht University, earning a bachelor's degree. The subsequent year she earned a master's degree in commercial law at the same university.
