Peter Turang
Peter Turang (born 23 February 1947), sometimes also known as Petrus Turang is an Indonesian Roman Catholic archbishop . Biography Turang was born in Tataaran, Minahasa Regency in North Sulawesi. He was ordained a priest on 18 December 1974. Turang held the position of executive secretary of the Indonesian Economic and Social Development Commission at the Indonesian Bishops' Conference. On 21 April 1997 Truang was appointed coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Kupang to replace the then-current archbishop Gregorius Manteiro, who was in poor health. The Bishops' Conference of Indonesia (BCI; Indonesian: KWI/Konferensi Waligereja Indonesia) is the episcopal conference of the Catholic bishops of Indonesia. It was constituted in November 1955, in Surabaya with the name MAWI. KWI is a part of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences. Julius Riyadi Cardinal Darmaatmadja (born 20 December 1934) is an Indonesian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was created a cardinal in 1994, becoming the second Indonesian to be a cardinal. He served as the Archbishop of Semarang from 1983 to 1996 and Archbishop of Jakarta from 1996 to 2010. Biography Darmaatmadja entered Saint Peter Canisius Minor seminary in Magelang, Central Java in 1951 and Society of Jesus in 1957. He studied philosophy from 1961 to 1964 at De Nobili College, Pontifical Athenaeum, Pune, Maharashtra and theology from 1966 to 1970 at Saint Ignatius College, Yogyakarta. Kupang ( id, Kota Kupang, ), formerly known as Koepang, is the capital of the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara. A coadjutor bishop (or bishop coadjutor) is a bishop in the Catholic, Anglican, and (historically) Eastern Orthodox churches whose main role is to assist the diocesan bishop in the administration of the diocese. The coadjutor (literally, "co-assister" in Latin) is a bishop himself, although he is also appointed as vicar general. The coadjutor bishop is, however, given authority beyond that ordinarily given to the vicar general, making him co-head of the diocese in all but ceremonial precedence.
