Peter Reader
Peter L. Reader (1913 – November 6, 2002) was a delegate of the Constitutional convention (political meeting), constitutional convention of Alaska. He was the only delegate to oppose statehood. Reader was born in Grand Rapids, North Dakota. A former Mining, miner who worked in Candle, Alaska, Candle and Nome, Alaska, Nome, he worked as an equipment Construction foreman, foreman for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After the war, Reader worked for the North Fork Dredging Company and the Pioneer Water Company. He served as a delegate to the Alaska Constitutional Convention in 1955 and 1956. In 1958, Reader formed the Nome Telephone Company along with four other investors. He remained at the company until its sale in 1965. Reader died, aged 89, in Silverdale, Washington after a lengthy illness. References

A constituent assembly (also known as a constitutional convention, constitutional congress, or constitutional assembly) is a body assembled for the purpose of drafting or revising a constitution. Members of a constituent assembly may be elected by popular vote, drawn by sortition, appointed, or some combination of these methods.
