Peter P. Garibaldi
Peter P. Garibaldi (September 12, 1931 – August 20, 2023) was an American politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1968 to 1974 and in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Garibaldi was elected mayor of Monroe Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey in 1975. He was re-elected in 1979 and 1983, and was defeated in a bid for a fourth term in 1987. As mayor, he argued that the township should not be split between two area codes and five Zip codes. Garibaldi died from cancer at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, New Jersey, on August 20, 2023, at the age of 91. New Jersey's 18th Legislative District is one of 40 in the New Jersey Legislature. As of the 2011 apportionment, the district includes the Middlesex County municipalities of East Brunswick Township, Edison Township, Helmetta Borough, Highland Park Borough, Metuchen Borough, South Plainfield Borough and South River Borough. Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) is a 691-bed non-profit, tertiary research and academic medical center located in Neptune Township, New Jersey, servicing coastal New Jersey and the Central Jersey area. James W. Bornheimer Jr. (October 19, 1933 – October 9, 1993) was an American Democratic Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1972 to 1982 and in the New Jersey Senate from 1982 to 1984.
