Peter Martin (actor)
Peter Martin is an English actor (born 1934, in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire) best known for playing Joe Carroll in ''The Royle Family'' (1998—2012) and Len Reynolds in ''Emmerdale'' (2001—2007). As well as this, he has appeared in many other productions on both screen and stage. Career He became known in the 1980s for his appearances in TV ads for the Jewson hardware chain. His acting works includes playing the fish shop man in ''First of the Summer Wine''. He also played 'Charlie the moonlighting gravedigger' in the ''Beiderbecke Tapes''. He was in ''The Royle Family'' as Joe Carroll,. Peter Martin (STP)
Peter Martin (STP) was an Irish preacher and Master of Sacred Theology, who died 1645. Martin was born in the town of Galway, Ireland, and by 1615 had already been a student at St. Patrick's College in Lisbon. He joined the Dominican Order and was in that year studying at Salamanca. By 1622 he had returned to Ireland where he enjoyed much success as preacher. In 1626 he was proposed as ''lector primarius et moderator studiorum'' of a proposed Dominican school at Galway. He was prior of that community in July 1631. In the late 1630s he was one of a number of Connacht Dominicans proposed as candidates for various offices, such as Achonry, Armagh and Clonfert. Material from the time describes him as ''for the past fifteen years eminent at Galway both for preaching and for his teaching of philosophy, rhetoric and letters.'' He died at Galway in 1645. Peter Martins
Peter Martins (born 27 October 1946) is a Danish ballet dancer and choreographer. Martins was a principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet and with the New York City Ballet, where he joined George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and John Taras as balletmaster in 1981. He retired from dancing in 1983, having achieved the rank of danseur noble, becoming Co-Ballet Master-In-Chief with Robbins. From 1990 until January 2018, he was solely responsible for artistic leadership of City Ballet. Christine Chaundler
Christine Chaundler (5 September 1887 – 15 December 1972) was a prolific English children's author, who also wrote stories for boys as Peter Martin. Some of her hundreds of short stories were broadcast by the BBC. Life Born in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, the daughter of a solicitor, Henry Chaundler, and Constance Julia Chaundler (née Thompson), she was educated at Queen Anne's School, Caversham, until the age of sixteen, and then at St Winifred's School, Llanfairfechan. Apart from a brief period in the Land Army during the First World War, Chaundler worked in editorial jobs as she built her writing career. By 1920, her earnings had allowed her to build a house on the Sussex Downs, where she lived until her death in 1972. She never married. Peter Martin (born 10 February 1975) is a Slovak former professional darts player who played in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Peter Martin (born 1940) is an English literature scholar, biographer, and an 18th century garden historian. He was educated and has taught in the United States. He lives in England and Spain. Biography Martin has been a professor at Miami University; the College of William & Mary; New England College in Arundale, West Sussex, England; and in the English department of Principia College (1993–2002). For several years, he was a garden historian for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Peter James Martin (born 15 November 1968) is a former English cricketer who played in 8 Tests and 20 ODIs for England from 1995 to 1998. Nicknamed "Digger", Martin was primarily a fast-medium swing bowler. In county cricket, he played for Lancashire throughout his career. Domestic career As a batsman, Martin was capable of contributing runs from the lower order, and was competent enough to record two first-class centuries for Lancashire. By a statistical anomaly Martin topped the List A batting averages in 1996. He scored 78 runs in 12 innings, but was not out in 11 of these, so giving him a season's average of 78.00 despite a top score of just 35*. Peter Martin (born 1970) is an American jazz pianist. Life and career Martin was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 17, 1970. He won Second Place at the 1993 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. Producer Carl Griffin brought Martin together with saxophonist Ron Blake, bassist Rodney Whitaker, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson to form the band 4-Sight, which released one eponymous album for N2K Encoded Music in 1998. Martin is musical director and pianist for Dianne Reeves and arranged and played music for her Grammy Award-winning soundtrack to the motion picture ''Good Night, and Good Luck''. He also appeared in the film. In September 2008 he was appointed lecturer in jazz studies at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.
