Peter Lloyd (mountaineer)
Peter Lloyd CBE (26 June 1907 – 11 April 2003), was a mountaineer and engineer, a President of the Alpine Club. Early life Lloyd was born in Sheffield, England, the son of an economics lecturer. He was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, from 1921 to 1924, and then read Engineering at Trinity College, Cambridge. While there, he was president of the University's Mountaineering Club. George Alfred Lloyd, (15 December 1920 – 16 August 2022), known as Peter Lloyd, was an Australian aviator and entrepreneur. From the 1950s, Lloyd was involved with administering aero clubs in Australia and internationally, as well as promoting air sports and air safety. Peter Lloyd (commentator)
Peter Lloyd (born 16 November 1920; died before 23 September 1976) was a British television sports commentator, who specialised in football commentaries. He is notable for having given, alongside former England captain Billy Wright, the first ever live television commentary on an English Football League match, when the second half of Blackpool versus Bolton Wanderers was shown by ITV on 10 September 1960. Lloyd had previously worked for BBC Television, providing live commentary on various football games from 1948 until 1955. This included being the co-commentator on the FA Cup Final in both 1949 and 1950, and on coverage of England's matches against Scotland and Italy in April and November 1949, all alongside the BBC's main television football commentator of the time Jimmy Jewell. Sir Peter Robert Cable Lloyd (born 12 November 1937) is a retired English Conservative Party politician. Parliamentary career Lloyd was educated at Tonbridge School and Pembroke College, Cambridge, and was formerly a marketing manager for United Biscuits. He stood for the Nottingham West constituency in the February and October 1974 elections, being beaten by Labour's Michael English. Lloyd was Member of Parliament for Fareham in the south of England from 1979 to 2001, when he retired and was succeeded by Mark Hoban. Peter Lloyd (1944–2009) was a freelance illustrator specializing in advertising and digital artwork. Lloyd was born in England in 1944, but moved to the United States in 1959, where he was the youngest student to graduate from the Art Center College of Design with a master's degree. Lloyd provided art to several large advertising clients in the 1960s, including National Geographic and the National Football League. He also illustrated for magazines such as Playboy and Esquire. He procured several berths in the feature film industry during the late 1970s and 1980s, including a job doing conceptual work for Walt Disney Productions in 1982; most notably, Lloyd worked on creating and refining digital effects for the 1982 film ''Tron''. Lloyd has since worked with many other motion picture clients such as Paramount Pictures, often as a conceptual or storyboard artist. Peter Lloyd (born 1966) is a journalist and was senior producer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's news and current affairs program ''Lateline''. He was previously the ABC's South Asia correspondent based in New Delhi, from where he reported across all ABC national and international radio and television news and current affairs programs. Lloyd was due to return to Australia to co-host ''ABC News Breakfast'' with Virginia Trioli on ABC2 from October 2008, but he was arrested in Singapore on drugs charges. He served six months of a ten-month jail sentence. In April 2010, Lloyd was re-hired by the ABC for his current ''Lateline'' role. Education Educated at St Gregory's College in Campbelltown, he graduated as dux, before going on to earn a bachelor's degree in Journalism at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.
