Peter Lawson (cricketer)
Peter James Lawson (born 11 September 1981) is an English cricketer. Lawson is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Lawson made his debut for Cumberland in the 2000 Minor Counties Championship against Lincolnshire, with Williams playing Minor Counties Championship cricket for Cumberland to 2003 and MCCA Knockout Trophy cricket to 2006. Barrow-in-Furness
Barrow-in-Furness is a port town in Cumbria, England. Historically in Lancashire, it was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1867 and merged with Dalton-in-Furness Urban District in 1974 to form the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. In 2023 the borough will merge with Eden and South Lakeland districts to form a new unitary authority; Westmorland and Furness. At the tip of the Furness peninsula, close to the Lake District, it is bordered by Morecambe Bay, the Duddon Estuary and the Irish Sea. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. He was born in Plymouth, Devon. 2001 saw him make his debut for Devon in a List A match against Bedfordshire in the 2nd round of the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was played in 2001. Court made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Devon in 2002 against Shropshire. Between 2002 and 2009, he represented the county in 37 Championship matches, the last of which came against Berkshire. In the same season that he made his debut for Devon, he also made his debut in the MCCA Knockout Trophy, which came against Cornwall. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy.
