Peter Andrew Johnston (born 13 November 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne and Geelong Football Club, Geelong in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). Melbourne A Tasmanian, Johnston played for St Virgil's College and Tasmanian Football League (TFL) club North Hobart Football Club, North Hobart before his recruitment by Melbourne. A forward, he spent three seasons at Melbourne and although he did not kick a goal in his last five games of the 1978 VFL season, his 31 goals for the year was just two short of winning the club's leading goal-kicker award. Geelong He switched allegiances to Geelong for the 1979 VFL season, 1979 season and performed credibly, although he became known for his inaccuracy in front of goal. Peter Johnston (born 25 February 1968) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Parramatta Eels, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Illawarra Steelers in the NSWRL/ARL. Playing career A prop known for his big hits, Johnston started his first-grade career at Parramatta in 1989. After three seasons with the Eels he had two-season stints at South Sydney and Illawarra, before finishing his career back at Parramatta. Peter Johnstone (9 August 1922 – 18 October 1997) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A backrow forward, Johnstone represented Ashburton County while serving in the armyThe Encyclopedia of New Zealand Rugby, p.105 and later Otago at a provincial level. He was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1949 to 1951. He played 26 matches for the All Blacks—10 as captain—including nine internationals, touring South Africa in 1949 and playing all four tests against the touring 1950 British Lions. Mosgiel (Māori: ''Te Konika o te Matamata'') is an urban satellite of Dunedin in Otago, New Zealand, fifteen kilometres west of the city's centre. Since the re-organisation of New Zealand local government in 1989 it has been inside the Dunedin City Council area. Mosgiel has a population of approximately as of . The town celebrates its location, calling itself "The pearl of the plain". Its low-lying nature does pose problems, making it prone to flooding after heavy rains. Peter Johnston (born 1 June 1960) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Career Johnston played collegiate tennis for Oklahoma State University. He received a bye in the opening round of the 1982 Australian Open, then faced Ben Testerman in the second round, a match the Australian lost in straight sets. In the doubles he made the third round, with partner John McCurdy (tennis), John McCurdy. Johnston is believed to be one of the inspirations (alongside Stefan Edberg) for the Australian Open logo from 1995 to 2016, which depicted a male player serving. He was educated at Ballymena Academy and Imperial College London, where he graduated in Chemical Engineering and Management. Prior to joining the BBC, he worked for Shell International in London and Price Waterhouse Coopers in Belfast.
