Peter J. Schmitt
Peter J. Schmitt (June 27, 1950 – October 3, 2012), R-Massapequa, was the leader of Nassau County, New York's Legislature. Schmitt represented the 12th legislative district in Nassau County, which includes Massapequa, Massapequa Park, most of North Massapequa, and part of Seaford. A graduate of Hofstra University, he had lived in the area since 1974. He was elected to the Legislature in 1995 when it was first created and has represented the 12th district ever since Schmitt served as the Legislature's Deputy Presiding Officer from 1996 to 1999 when it was under Republican control. From 2000 to 2009, he served as Minority Leader, and he served as Presiding Officer from 2010 to his death in 2012, after Republicans regained control of the Legislature. Michael Venditto
Michael Venditto (born June 30, 1981 in Massapequa, New York) is a former Republican New York State Senator, previously representing District 8, which comprises the South Shore of Long Island beginning with Baldwin in the West and ending with West Babylon in the East. First elected in 2014, he served as Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, and on the Codes, Higher Education, Insurance, Judiciary, Labor, Libraries, and Crime Victims, Crime and Correction committees and on the Heroin Task Force. The Town of Oyster Bay is the easternmost of the three towns which make up Nassau County, New York, United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is the only town in Nassau County to extend from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 301,332. Massapequa (, ) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. Massapequa Park is a village and hamlet located within the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 17,008 at the 2010 census. Areas south and east of the village borders are considered the hamlet of Massapequa because they are under the jurisdiction of the Town of Oyster Bay rather than the village. The hamlet shares the same zip code, fire department and school district as the village. History The village located on the South Shore of Long Island shares the early Native American history of Massapequa. Seaford, New York
Seaford is a township in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 15,294 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and 0.38% is water. History The original settlers of Seaford were the Marsapeaques, a Native American Indian tribe. They called the area "Great Water Land." European settlement began with the arrival of Captain John Seaman, a native of Seaford, East Sussex, in England. Ed Mangano
Edward P. Mangano (born March 24, 1962) is an American politician from the state of New York. A Republican, he was the Nassau County Executive from January 2010 to December 2017, and a former legislator in Nassau County, New York. He was elected in 1995 and served seven terms as a county legislator. In November 2009, he defeated incumbent Thomas R. Suozzi for Nassau County Executive. In November 2013, he was re-elected, again defeating Suozzi, by 59% to 41%. In October 2016, a 13-count federal indictment for fraud and bribery was unsealed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Mangano, his wife Linda, and Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto. He did not seek reelection in 2017. He and his wife were both convicted in March 2019, and are both facing up to 20 years in prison.
