Peter Hunt (British Army Officer)
General Sir Peter Mervyn Hunt, (11 March 1916 – 2 October 1988) was Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army, from 1973 to 1976. He served in the Second World War and commanded British Forces deployed in response to the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation. Later in his career he provided advice to the British Government at a time of continuing tension associated with the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Military career Hunt was the son of H. V. Peter Hunt (literary Critic)
Peter Hunt (born 1945) is a British scholar who is Professor Emeritus in English and children's literature at Cardiff University, UK. Hunt was a pioneer of the academic study of children's literature as a literary, rather than educational, discipline at university level, and 'he has been instrumental in creating a world network of those whose research concerns are located in this domain'. The courses that he ran at Cardiff from 1985 were the first of their kind in the UK. He has lectured on children's literature at over 150 universities, colleges and to learned societies in 23 countries, and over the past few years he has been Visiting Professor at Trinity College, Dublin, Università Ca’Foscari Venice, Newcastle University and Hollins University, Roanoke VA, USA. He has written or edited 26 books and over 500 papers, reference book entries, and reviews on the subject. Peter Hunt (politician)
Peter Hunt is a British politician and co-operative activist and thinker. He was until March 2008 General Secretary of the Co-operative Party and is as of 2008 chief executive of the think tank Mutuo. Educated at Comprehensive School in Leicester and at Brunel University, Hunt joined the Labour Party in 1983 and worked in housing and IT before joining the Co-operative Party in 1994, working as regional organiser for the South of England. In 1998, Hunt was appointed General Secretary of the Party. The Co-operative Party had arguably been in a long decline and Hunt's immediate priority was to secure the position and finances of the Party and its relationship with the new Labour government. He also rejuvenated the Party's policy making and broadened its scope. He relaunched the Party's magazine, ''New Mutualism'', and started a series of policy pamphlets under the same name. Peter Hunt (darts Player)
Peter Hunt (born 22 January 1965) is a former New Zealand professional darts player who played in the BDO/ WDF and PDC circuit. With multiple titles to his name, he was one of New Zealand's leading darts players. Career Hunt has played in four BDO World Darts Championships, first qualifying in 1993, the last unified World Championship before the infamous split in darts, losing 3–0 to Scotland's Ronnie Sharp. He returned in 1995, beating Belgium's Stefan Eeckelaert 3–0 in the first round before losing 3–2 in the second round to Colin Monk. It would be eight years before Hunt returned to Lakeside in 2003, losing in the first round to Bob Taylor. He returned a year layer, but again lost in round one to Paul Hogan. Hunt also played twice in the International Darts League. Peter Hunt (born Frederick Lowe Schnitzer; 1896 in East Orange, New Jersey, East Orange, New Jersey – 1967 in Cape Cod), was an American artist whose work is described as folk art or primitive art. He gained recognition for his art in the 1940s and 1950s when his decorated, refinished furniture was featured in magazines such as Life (magazine), ''Life'', ''House Beautiful'', and Mademoiselle (magazine), ''Mademoiselle''. Life and work Hunt grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, East Orange, New Jersey in a tenement house. Hunt served in World War I in France.
