Peter Holmes (1675–1732) of Peterfield was an Irish High Sheriff and MP in the Irish House of Commons. He was the son of George Holmes of New Hall, Co Kildare, Clerk of the Faculties jointly with his father. Peter Holmes (1731–1802) of Peterfield was an Irish High Sheriff and MP in the Parliament of Ireland. He was the son of Robert Holmes of Peterfield, County Tipperary. Peter was High Sheriff of Tipperary for 1772 and served as Member of Parliament for Banagher from 1761 to 1790. He was also MP for Kilmallock from 1790 to 1797 and for Doneraile Doneraile (), historically Dunerayl, is a town in County Cork, Ireland. Sir Peter Fenwick Holmes (27 September 1932 – 8 March 2002) was a British businessman who was the chairman of Shell Transport and Trading from 1985 to 1993 and chairman of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group from 1992 to 1993. Early life Holmes was born in Athens, and lived in Hungary for a time, as his father had a company there, and his mother was American. His grandfather and great grandfather lived in Turkey, where they worked for the Levant consular service. Holmes was educated at Malvern College, and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1955. While a university student, he served in the Royal Leicestershire Regiment during the Korean War, where he won the Military Cross in 1952. Peter S. Holmes (born March 21, 1956) is an American politician and attorney who served as the Seattle City Attorney from 2010 to 2022. He was elected in November 2009, defeating incumbent Tom Carr by a significant margin. After winning a second term uncontested in 2013, he defeated challenger Scott Lindsay in 2017 with nearly 75% of the vote, but failed to advance from the primary in a bid for a fourth term in the 2021 election. Prior to his election, Holmes served as an original member of the Seattle Police Department's Office of Professional Accountability Review Board (OPARB), a citizen review board which reviews police policy and procedures and maintains civilian oversight of the police department. Holmes gained recognition in the early 2010s as a stand-up comic, during which he launched his long-running podcast ''You Made It Weird'' (2011–present), released his first comedy special, and worked as an actor and television writer. Subsequently, he began his own late-night talk show ''The Pete Holmes Show'' (2013–2014), which ran on TBS for two seasons in the time-slot after ''Conan'', a frequent champion of his work.
