Peter Hayes (diplomat)
Peter Richard Hayes (born 11 April 1963) is a British diplomat. He was formerly the Commissioner of the British Indian Ocean Territory and the British Antarctic Territory. Early life He was educated at the University of Surrey (BSc, Physics) and King's College London (PhD, 1989). Career Originally trained as a physicist, in 1990 Hayes joined the Civil Service in the National Physical Laboratory, later working in the Department of Trade and Industry, the Cabinet Office, the Office of Science and Technology, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He worked for the British Embassy to the United States as a Counsellor for 2001–2005. In 2005 Hayes was appointed Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary, serving under Jack Straw, Margaret Beckett and David Miliband until 2007. Jack Straw
John Whitaker Straw (born 3 August 1946) is a British politician who served in the Cabinet from 1997 to 2010 under the Labour governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. He held two of the traditional Great Offices of State, as Home Secretary from 1997 to 2001, and Foreign Secretary from 2001 to 2006 under Blair. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Blackburn from 1979 to 2015. Straw was born in Essex and educated at Oaklands School, where his mother worked as a teacher, and later at Brentwood School. He studied Law at the University of Leeds before having a career as a barrister. He served as an adviser to cabinet minister Barbara Castle and was selected to succeed her as MP for the Blackburn constituency when she stood down at the 1979 United Kingdom general election. John Kittmer
John Kittmer (born 6 July 1967) is a British former diplomat. He was formerly the Commissioner for the British Indian Ocean Territory jointly with the British Antarctic Territory. Education Kittmer was born in Sussex in 1967. From the years 1978–1985, he was educated at Hymers College, an independent day school in Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire in Northern England, where he was taught Ancient Greek by Larry Trewartha and Gerald Thompson. Kittmer then attended Christ's College at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained a BA in Classics (1988), King's College London where he obtained an MA in Greek Studies (2007), and Magdalen College at the University of Oxford, at which he also studied Classics. Colin Roberts (born 31 July 1959) is a British diplomat and the former Governor of the Falkland Islands and former Commissioner of the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. He was educated at Winchester College, The Courtauld Institute of Art and King's College, Cambridge. John Rankin (diplomat)
John James Rankin, (born 12 March 1957) is a British diplomat and a former ambassador to Nepal. He is the current Governor of the Virgin Islands, Governor of the British Virgin Islands. He was Governor of Bermuda from December 2016 to December 2020. Early life and education Rankin was born on 12 March 1957. He was educated at Hutchesons' Grammar School, Hutchesons' Boys' Grammar School, an Independent school (United Kingdom), independent school in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied Scots law at the University of Glasgow, graduating with a first class honours Bachelor of Laws degree. Sir Dominick John Chilcott (born 17 November 1959) is a British diplomat who is Ambassador to Turkey. Early life He went to the Catholic independent school, St Joseph's College, Ipswich, later also attended by his brother Martin. He attended Greyfriars, Oxford, a small Oxford permanent private hall that closed in June 2008. He gained a BA in Philosophy and Theology in 1982. Matthew Steven Gould (born 20 August 1971) is a British civil servant who is CEO of NHSX, the body which oversees digital policy and programmes in NHS England. He was Ambassador to Israel (2010–15) and Director General for Digital and Media Policy in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (2015–19). Sir Geoffrey Doyne Adams (born 11 June 1957) served as the British Ambassador to Egypt from 2018 to 2021, as a member of the British Diplomatic Service.
