A ruckman, he played for Fitzroy from 1969 to 1971, but managed just seven senior appearances. He then joined Subiaco in the Western Australian National Football League and would go on to play 88 games for the club. In 1979 he represented Queensland again, at the Perth State of Origin Carnival. Mayne Australian Football Club
Mayne Australian Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in the Brisbane suburb of Enoggera. The club colours are black and gold and they are nicknamed the Tigers. It is the most successful club in the history of the Queensland Australian Football League, Queensland's highest level of competition, with 15 premierships from the 1920s to the 1980s. The clubs most recent premiership was in 1982, with a Grand Final appearance in 1985. However after a long drought of success, and following its exclusion from the competition in 1999 struggled to remain competitive with the state's top clubs. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. The decision of the club to change its nickname to the Lions in 1957 coincided with what history now records as the beginning of decades of poor on-field performance and financial losses that eventually resulted in the club being placed into administration, ultimately leaving the AFL at the end of the 1996 season. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Subiaco Football Club, nicknamed the Lions and known before 1973 as the ''Maroons'', is an Australian rules football club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The 1979 Perth State of Origin Carnival was the 20th Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football competition. It was the first carnival to take place under the State of Origin format. All of the Section One finals were played on Subiaco Oval, in October. Western Australia won the final, defeating Victoria. WA's captain, Brian Peake won the Tassie Medal as the tournament's best player.
