Peter De Havilland
Sir Peter de Havilland (27 October 1747–April 1821) was a lawyer and member of the de Havilland family of Guernsey. He served as Bailiff of Guernsey from 1810 to 1821. Family and early life De Havilland was born at Saint Peter Port, Guernsey, in 1747, the thirteenth child of John de Havilland (1706-1770), who was elected a jurat in 1729, and Mary, daughter of Peter Dobrée. The Dobrées were a wealthy Guernsey family, but Peter Dobrée had moved to London for business and it was there, at Clapham, that John de Havilland married Mary Dobrée in 1728. John and Mary lived in a now-demolished house called La Bataille. Eight of their thirteen survived to adulthood: Catherine, Mary, John, James, Martha, Eliza, Martin and Peter. The language spoken at home was French, with English and Guernsey French also learnt by the children. Sir John Doyle, 1st Baronet
General Sir John Doyle, 1st Baronet GCB, KCH (17568 August 1834) was an officer in the British Army, which he joined in March 1771. He served with distinction in the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. He was elected Member of Parliament for Mullingar in the Irish House of Commons in 1783, and went on to serve as Secretary of War in the Irish administration of Dublin Castle. Doyle raised his own regiment, the 87th (Royal Irish Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot, for the French Revolutionary Wars in 1793 and served in Holland, Gibraltar and Egypt. His efforts were greatly appreciated by King George III, who took the trouble to write to the Earl Marshall, "... so that his oyle'szeal and exertions in our service may be known to posterity". Daniel De Lisle Brock
Daniel de Lisle Brock (1762–1842) was Bailiff of Guernsey from 1821 until his death 1842. Brock was born 10 December 1762 at Saint Peter Port on the Channel Island of Guernsey, the third son of John Brock (1729–1777), a midshipman in the Royal Navy, and Elizabeth de Lisle, daughter of Daniel de Lisle, then Lieutenant-Bailiff of Guernsey. The Brocks were an English family who had been established in Guernsey since the sixteenth century. Daniel was a nephew of William Brock (1725–1768), of Brockhurst, St Peter Port (now owned by the National Trust of Guernsey), who was married to Judith de Beauvoir; and Henry Brock, who was married to Susan, sister of Admiral James Saumarez, 1st Baron de Saumarez.
