Peter Day (chemist)
Peter Day (20 August 1938 – 19 May 2020) was a British inorganic chemist and Professor of Chemistry at University College London (UCL). Early life and education Day was born 20 August 1938 in Wrotham, Kent. He was educated at Maidstone Grammar School and Wadham College, Oxford where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1965 for research supervised by Robert Williams. Career and research Day was a pioneer of materials chemistry, seeking unusual physical properties in inorganic and metal–organic compounds and models to explain them. He played a major role in the development of mixed-valence chemistry, and has carried out important and elegant experimental and theoretical work on the spectra, magnetic properties and conductivity of solid, inorganic complexes. Peter Day (broadcaster)
Peter Day (17 February 1947 – 15 March 2023) was a British broadcaster on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service. Early life and education Day was educated at Lincoln School, at the time a boys-only grammar school, from 1957 to 1964 as a boarder. His father was a manager with Midland Bank (which became HSBC in 1999) in Lincolnshire (Horncastle and Gainsborough). He studied English at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. Day was trained on the International Publishing Corporation (Daily Mirror Group) newspaper training scheme in south Devon. He worked at the '' Daily Record'' from 1970 to 1974 in Glasgow. Career Day joined BBC Radio News in 1974 in London, working on the business news in 1975. In 1983, he left the BBC to join TV-am as their economics and industrial correspondent, appearing as a reporter on the first day of broadcast - 1 February 1983. Peter Day (born 1970) is an English recording/mixing engineer, record producer, and songwriter. Since the beginning of his musical career around 1987, he has been credited on numerous records from a diverse list of artists that includes Kylie, Sybil, Bananarama, Lisa Scott-Lee, Jason Donavon, and Rick Astley. He is also known for his audio engineering with songwriting/ production trio SAW ('Stock Aitken Waterman'). To date he is credited on 13 top ten hits; 6 of which reaching No. 1. He is a primary member of music production group/label Point4. He was born in 1970 in Merton, London, England, but brought up for the most part in Guildford, Surrey.
