Peter Darke
Peter Darke (21 December 1953 – 1 October 2021) was an English footballer who played as a full back. He began his career as an apprentice with Plymouth Argyle, having been spotted playing for Exeter Schoolboys. He made his debut in August 1971 at the age of 17, and went on to make 107 appearances in all competitions during his six years at Home Park, scoring two goals. He spent time on loan with Exeter City during the 1976–77 season before joining Torquay United in 1977. He retired from the professional game two years later, and went on to play non-league football for Minehead, Saltash United and Liskeard Athletic. He later worked as a salesman in Exeter. Exeter
Exeter () is a city in Devon, South West England. It is situated on the River Exe, approximately northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol. In Roman Britain, Exeter was established as the base of Legio II Augusta under the personal command of Vespasian. Exeter became a religious centre in the Middle Ages. Non-league Football
Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League or below that level. Typically, non-League clubs are either semi-professional or amateur in status, although the majority of clubs in the National League are fully professional, some of which are former EFL clubs who have suffered relegation. Torquay
