Peter Crawford is a British award-winning, freelance film-maker, author and lecturer. Peter Crawford is perhaps best known for his natural history documentary films and TV series in the United Kingdom and United States including, in 1990, the first television series to attempt to comprehensively document North America's wildlife, ''Land of the Eagle'' ( WNET New York) and in 1999; ''Living Britain'' (BBC 2), a series of ten 30 minute films which portrayed the natural history of Great Britain and Ireland. ''Living Britain'' was accompanied by a book written by Peter Crawford which became a Number 1 Best Seller for BBC Books. Peter Crawford (basketball)
Peter Crawford (born 6 November 1979) is an Australian basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). Playing career In 1998, Crawford was a member of the Townsville Heat's losing ABA semi-final team. Two years later, he helped the Heat win the QBL championship. At the age of 19, Crawford made his NBL debut for the Townsville Crocodiles in 1999. In 2001, he was a member of the Crocodiles' losing grand final team. In 2004, he was cut by Townsville and was picked up by the Perth Wildcats. In his first season with a Wildcats, he was named the NBL Most Improved Player. From 2007 to 2011, he played for the Perry Lakes Hawks of the State Basketball League. In 2009, Crawford left the Wildcats and returned to the Townsville Crocodiles, where he spent the next five seasons. In 2011, he was named to the All-NBL Third Team. Peter Thomson Crawford (born 1 July 1949) is a former Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Balmain in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1984 to 1988. Crawford was born in Ashfield in Sydney, and attended Burwood Public School, Fort Street Boys' High School and the University of Sydney, where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education. He became a school teacher and worked as a legal officer from 1973–75; he was also elected President of Young Labor in 1974. In 1976 he became a research officer for former Deputy Premier Jack Ferguson, before becoming a newspaper publisher in 1980. In that year he was elected to Leichhardt Council, serving until 1984. He briefly returned to teaching in 1983. In 1984, Crawford was preselected for the safe state Labor seat of Balmain, where the sitting MP Roger Degen retired. Spearfishing is a method of fishing that involves impaling the fish with a straight pointed object such as a spear, gig or harpoon. It has been deployed in artisanal fishing throughout the world for millennia. Early civilisations were familiar with the custom of spearing fish from rivers and streams using sharpened sticks. Modern spearfishing usually involves the use of underwater swimming gear and slingshot-like elastic powered spearguns or compressed gas powered pneumatic spearguns, which launch a tethered underwater projectile to strike the target fish. Specialised techniques and equipment have been developed for various types of aquatic environments and target fish. Spearfishing may be done using free-diving, snorkelling or scuba diving techniques, but spearfishing while using scuba equipment is illegal in some countries.
