Peter Cousins
Peter Tendai Cousins (born 3 March 1981 in Harlow) is a British judoka, who competed at the Olympic Games. Judo career Cousins came to prominence after becoming champion of Great Britain, winning the middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 1999. He then followed this up by winning three consecutive British titles in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Two years later in 2005, he won a fifth British title before securing a bronze medal at the 2006 European Judo Championships, in Tampere. One year later in 2007, he won a silver medal at the 2007 World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro. He lost the gold medal match against the home judoka Luciano Corrêa. The performance inevitably resulted in selection for Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He competed in the half-heavyweight category and was eliminated in the first round. British Judo Championships
The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Until 2013, the Championships were held under the title of either the British Closed Championships or the British Senior Trials. In 2013, the British Closed Championships/Senior Trials were merged with the all-age British Championships. The 2020 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thomas Cousins (born 3 March 1981) is a British former judoka, who won a silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Judo At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 Kg
The men's 100 kg judo competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held on August 14 at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. Preliminary rounds started at 12:00 pm CST. Repechage finals, semifinals, bouts for bronze medals and the final were held at 8:00 pm CST. This event was the second-heaviest of the men's judo weight classes, limiting competitors to a maximum of 100 kilograms of body mass. Like all other judo events, bouts lasted five minutes. If the bout was still tied at the end, it was extended for another five-minute, sudden-death period; if neither judoka scored during that period, the match is decided by the judges. The tournament bracket consisted of a single-elimination contest culminating in a gold medal match. There was also a repechage to determine the winners of the two bronze medals.
