Peter Carr (New Zealand Politician)
Peter Carr (1884 – 18 October 1946) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Private life Carr was born in Papakura in 1884, the son of R. and A Carr. He was educated locally at the Papakura and Drury schools. In his youth, he played cricket and football. A quiet spoken man, he was to live in Auckland his whole life. He later entered the union movement as a career and became president of the Auckland Tramways Union, serving in the post for twelve years (1928–1940). Carr served in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during World War I as a motorman, holding the rank of Lance Corporal. In 1916, he married Margaret Duckworth, the daughter of A. Duckworth. In 1941, they lived in Kelmarna Avenue in Herne Bay. Political career Carr was a founding member of the Labour Party, joining on its inception in 1916. Peter Carr (footballer)
Peter Carr (born 25 August 1951) is an English retired professional football defender. He spent four seasons in the North American Soccer League, at least one in the Major Indoor Soccer League, and two in the American Soccer League. Career Carr signed with Darlington F.C. when he was fifteen. He played for the New England Tea Men of the North American Soccer League each summer from 1979 to 1980. He became a free agent when the Tea Men moved to Jacksonville in 1981. He subsequently signed with the Washington Diplomats. In the fall of 1981, he signed with the Cleveland Force of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He played in only fourteen games and was released at the end of the season. In 1982, he moved to the Georgia Generals of the second-division American Soccer League. In 1983, he played for the Pennsylvania Stoners. Peter Carr (January 2, 1770 – February 17, 1815) was an American educator and politician who served several terms in the Virginia House of Delegates. He is primarily known for the Jefferson–Hemings controversy, as he was rumored to have fathered children by Sally Hemings. Personal life Carr was born in Goochland County, Virginia on January 2, 1770, to Dabney and Martha Jefferson Carr, sister to Thomas Jefferson. Carr was educated in Orange and Williamsburg, and later attended the College of William and Mary. He briefly practiced as a lawyer. Carr married Esther "Hetty" Smith Stevenson on June 6, 1797, and the two had eight children together. Carr died in his home at Carrsbrook on February 17, 1815. Jesse Willard "Pete" Carr (April 22, 1950 – June 27, 2020) was an American guitarist. Carr contributed to successful recordings by Joan Baez, Luther Ingram, Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Joe Cocker, Boz Scaggs, The Staple Singers, Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, Wilson Pickett, Hank Williams, Jr., and many others, from the 1970s onward. Carr recorded and produced four solo albums and was half of the duet LeBlanc and Carr. He recorded extensively at FAME Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama. He was lead guitarist for the famed Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Carr was known for versatility, using both electric and acoustic guitars to perform a vast array of musical styles including folk, rock, pop, country, blues and soul.
