Peter Laurence Alexander Cockburn Buchanan (16 October 1942 – 28 August 2023) was a British architect, urbanist, writer, critic, lecturer and exhibition curator. Buchanan is best known for his series of critical essays for ''The Big Rethink'' published by The Architectural Review and for his books on architecture. Life and career After schooling in Zimbabwe, Buchanan studied architecture at the University of Cape Town, and after completing his degree in 1968 he worked with architects in Cape Town, first with Gabriel Fagan and then until 1971 with Revel Fox. Subsequently, he worked as architect and urban designer in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. In 1979 Buchanan took up work with ''The Architects' Journal'' and with The Architectural Review, and in 1982 became The Architectural Review's deputy editor. Since 1992 he worked as freelancer. Career Buchanan played league football for Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford in The Football League, either side of the Second World War. Peter Buchanan (judge)
The Honourable Justice Peter Buchanan (11 October 1943 – 19 May 2014) was a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the highest court in Victoria, a state of Australia. Buchanan was appointed a judge of the court on 27 October 1997; he retired in October 2013. At the time of his retirement, Buchanan was, and remains, the longest-serving member of the Court of Appeal. Buchanan died on 19 May 2014. Education and career After finishing high school at the Scotch College in Melbourne, Mr. Buchanan studied Arts and Law at the Australian National University. He then obtained a PhD at the University of London in the areas of wills and trusts. Pete Buchanan is a fictional character from the Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Kai Owen. From his debut appearance on 2 June 2015, he has been involved in the Child molestation, sexual abuse plot within the McQueen family. After being imprisoned for his crimes, Pete left the series on 29 June 2016. Pete returned for a one-off appearance on 12 October 2018. On 29 March 2021, it was announced that Owen would be reprising the role, with Pete returning on 6 April 2021. Development Creation and characterisation It was announced in April 2015 that the McQueen family were going to be centre to a sexual abuse storyline.
