Peter Berry (basketball)
Peter Bram Berry (born October 30, 2001) is an American wheelchair basketball player for the United States men's national wheelchair basketball team and social media personality. At age nine, a car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, a paraplegic, and confined to a wheelchair. Berry started competing in wheelchair basketball for TIRR Memorial Hermann soon after his accident. In 2019, he accepted an athletic scholarship to play for the University of Alabama's wheelchair basketball team, where he began in 2020. Berry is also known for his social media presence, with over 7,000 followers and 770,000 likes on TikTok. He will represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. TikTok
TikTok, known in China as Douyin (), is a short-form video hosting service owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. It hosts user-submitted videos, which can range in duration from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. TikTok is an international version of Douyin, which was released in the Chinese market in September 2016. It launched in 2017 for iOS and Android in most markets outside of mainland China; however, it became available worldwide only after merging with another Chinese social media service, Musical.ly, on 2 August 2018. TikTok and Douyin have almost the same user interface but no access to each other's content. Their servers are each based in the market where the respective app is available. Paraplegia
Paraplegia, or paraparesis, is an impairment in motor or sensory function of the lower extremities. The word comes from Ionic Greek () "half-stricken". It is usually caused by spinal cord injury or a congenital condition that affects the neural (brain) elements of the spinal canal. The area of the spinal canal that is affected in paraplegia is either the thoracic, lumbar, or sacral regions. If four limbs are affected by paralysis, tetraplegia or quadriplegia is the correct term. If only one limb is affected, the correct term is monoplegia. Distracted driving is the act of driving while engaging in other activities which distract the driver's attention away from the road.
