''Pete Yorn'', also titled as ''PY'', is the eponymous fifth album by American singer-songwriter Pete Yorn, released by Vagrant Records on September 28, 2010. Reception The album debuted at No. 66 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, with around 6,000 copies sold on its first week of release. It also debuted at No. 22 on the ''Billboards Rock Albums chart, and No. 15 on the Alternative Albums charts. The album has sold 28,000 copies in the US as of January 2016. Peter Joseph Yorn (born July 27, 1974) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He first gained international recognition after his debut record, ''Musicforthemorningafter'', was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2001. He is known for playing the bulk of the instruments on his records. Spin (magazine), Spin magazine, in a career retrospective article dated March 26, 2021, recognized Yorn as one of his generation's best songwriters. Yorn’s 10th full length album, Hawaii, was released on June 17, 2022. Vagrant Records is an American record label based in California. It was founded in 1995 by Rich Egan and Jon Cohen. Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV (born April 6, 1965) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known as the frontman of the alternative rock band Pixies, with whom he performs under the stage name Black Francis. Following the band's breakup in 1993, he embarked on a solo career under the name Frank Black. ''Break Up'' is a collaborative album by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson. Its first single, "Relator" was released as a digital download on May 25, 2009. The full album was released by Atco and Rhino on September 15, 2009. It was certified gold in France. Production The album was recorded in 2006, thus preceding several albums that Yorn and Johansson have released as solo artists. Johansson completed her vocals for the project in two afternoon sessions. Yorn said that the concept for the album was realized in a dream he had. Chris Hillman
Christopher Hillman (born December 4, 1944) is an American musician. He was the original bassist of and one of the original members of the Byrds, which in 1965 included Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby and Michael Clarke. With frequent collaborator Gram Parsons, Hillman was a key figure in the development of country rock, defining the genre through his work with The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas and the country-rock group the Desert Rose Band. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of the Byrds. Early years Hillman was born in Los Angeles, California, the third of four children.
