Pete Woodworth
Pete Graham Woodworth (born July 29, 1988) is an American professional baseball coach. He is the pitching coach for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Woodworth attended St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. Woodworth attended the University of South Florida for one year, before transferring to Florida Gulf Coast University. He played four years of college baseball for FGC and graduated with a bachelor's degree in History. Woodworth went undrafted in the 2010 MLB draft, and signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. He spent his only professional season playing for the GCL Rays in 2010. Woodworth returned to Florida Gulf Coast as a volunteer assistant coach for the team from August 2011 until February 2012. He then rejoined the Tampa Bay organization as an area scout. In baseball, a number of coaches assist in the smooth functioning of a team. They are assistants to the manager, who determines the starting lineup and batting order, decides how to substitute players during the game, and makes strategy decisions. Beyond the manager, more than a half dozen coaches may assist the manager in running the team. Texas League
The Texas League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated in the South Central United States since 1902. It is classified as a Double-A league. Despite the league's name, only its five South Division teams are actually based in the state of Texas; the five North Division teams are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The league was founded in 1888 and ran through 1892. It was called the Texas Association in 1895, the Texas-Southern League in 1896, and again as the Texas League from 1897 to 1899. It was revived as a Class D league in 1902, moved to Class C in 1904 where it played through 1910 (except for 1906 as Class D again), played at Class B until 1920, and finally moved up to Class A in 1921.
