Peter Geoffrey Francis Jones (12 June 1920 – 10 April 2000) was an English actor, screenwriter and broadcaster. Early life and early career Peter Jones, born in Wem, Shropshire, was educated at Wem Grammar School and Ellesmere College, making his first appearance as an actor in Wolverhampton at the age of 16 and then appeared in repertory theatre in East Anglia. In 1942 he acted on the West End stage in '' The Doctor's Dilemma'' and in 1942 he made an uncredited film appearance in '' Fanny by Gaslight''. An early film credit was as a Xenobian trade delegate in '' Chance of a Lifetime'' (1950). He appeared in the 1949 comedy ''Love in Albania'' by Eric Linklater. He co-wrote the 1954 play ''The Party Spirit'' which ran in the West End with Ralph Lynn and Robertson Hare. Radio Between 1952 and 1955 Jones starred alongside Peter Ustinov in the BBC radio comedy ''In All Directions''. Peter Lawson Jones (born December 23, 1952) is an American actor, philanthropist and politician of the Democratic party. A resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio, he formerly served as a county commissioner in Cuyahoga County. Early years Jones was born December 23, 1952 to Charles and Margaret Jones, who paid twenty percent over asking - the black tax - to buy a house in Shaker Heights. When asked to not pay the higher fee, his mother was said to have responded, "My son is going to Shaker schools because I understand they’re very good." He received his AB magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1975, and his juris doctor from Harvard in 1980. He was admitted to the Ohio State Bar in November 1980. Peter Jones (7 February 1930 – 2 April 1990) was a Welsh-born broadcaster, best known as a sports commentator on BBC radio in the United Kingdom, although many of his commentaries were also broadcast internationally on the BBC World Service. He frequently worked alongside Maurice Edelston, Bryon Butler, Alan Parry and, latterly, Alan Green and Mike Ingham. Career He was educated at Swansea Grammar School and Queens' College, Cambridge, where he read Modern Languages. He started his teaching career at Kimbolton School and subsequently taught at Bradfield College. His career as a broadcaster began in 1965 after a chance meeting with Maurice Edelston, who lived in nearby Reading. Peter Jones (born 24 February 1954)) is a former English football referee, who retired from officiating at the end of the 2001–02 season. He lives in Quorn, near Loughborough, Leicestershire, and works as a referee assessor. Career After appearing as a player in the Leicester City Mutual League, he first took up the whistle himself in a local club match in 1971 after he had seen a friend refereeing. He would then go on to officiate in the North Leicestershire League, Midland Intermediate League (dissolved 1988) and eventually the Southern League. He was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1988, and he progressed to the FA Premier League list of referees in 1994.
