Petalies Gulf
The Petalioi Gulf ( el, Κόλπος Πεταλιών - ''Kolpos Petalion'') is a gulf of the Aegean Sea, Greece. It stretches between the east coast of Attica and the south tip of the island Euboea. It takes its name from the Petalioi islands, that are situated in the northeastern part of the Gulf, off the Euboean coast. The Petalioi Gulf is connected to the South Euboean Gulf to the north. Its length is approximately 50 km long from north to south and its width is approximately 5 km in the north to about 50 km in the south. There are several uninhabited islands in the gulf, including the Petalioi and Makronisos. Promontories include Strongylo and Vigla in the island of Euboea. Artemida, Attica
Artemida ( el, Αρτέμιδα, until 1977 ''Loutsa'', el, Λούτσα) is an Eastern suburb of Athens. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Spata-Artemida, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 18.653 km2. History The city was named after the ancient goddess Artemis. The Temple of Artemis Brauron was among the most important sacred sites in the ancient times. Vravrona (or Brauron), about 20 km from Athens, was one of the 12 towns of Attica that was united to Athens by Theseus. The ancient temple of Artemis is of Doric style and flourished in the 5th-4th century B.C. Karystos
Karystos ( el, Κάρυστος) or Carystus is a small coastal town on the Greece, Greek island of Euboea. It has about 5,000 inhabitants (12,000 in the municipality). It lies 129 km south of Chalkis. From Athens it is accessible by ferry via Marmari from the port of Rafina. After the Greek war of independence, its urban plan was laid out by the renowned Bavarian civil engineer Bierbach, in the middle of the 19th century. Marmari
Marmari ( el, Μαρμάρι, Katharevousa: Μαρμάριον) is a village and a former municipality in Euboea, Greece, in the southeastern end of the island. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Karystos, of which it is a municipal unit. Marmari has an area of 241.332 km2. The Greek National Road 44 (Chalkida - Karystos) runs through it and there are ferry routes with the mainland port of Rafina. The mountains dominate the east. Its main economy are local businesses and agriculture. Marmari is located southeast of Chalkida, east of Rafina and west of Karystos. Styra, Greece
Styra ( el, Στύρα) is a village and a former municipality on the island Euboea, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Karystos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 188.583 km2. It is located in the southern part of Euboea, facing the eastern shore of Attica across the South Euboean Gulf. Grammatiko ( el, Γραμματικό) is a village in East Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Marathon, of which it is a municipal unit. It is part of Athens metropolitan area. Geography Grammatiko is situated in the hills of the northeastern part of the Attica peninsula, 6 km from the South Euboean Gulf coast, at about 210 m elevation. Nea Makri
Nea Makri ( el, Νέα Μάκρη) is a town in East Attica, Greece. Since the local government reform of 2011, it has been a municipal unit within the municipality of Marathon. The municipal unit has an area of 36.662 km2. It is part of the Athens metropolitan area. Rafina ( el, Ραφήνα) is a suburban port town located on the eastern coast of Attica in Greece. It has a population of 13,091 inhabitants (2011 census). Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rafina-Pikermi, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 18.979 km2.
