Peta Teanet
Peta Teanet was a South African disco musician of Shangaan descent. He lived at Thapane village, in Bolobedu south at Ga-Modjadji. He was killed by a policeman in Bushbuckridge Acornhoek during an argument. He attended high school at Kgwekgwe High School in Moleketla Village, Bolobedu South. He became fluent in Shona and also had a couple of songs he sang in Shona. He was born in South Africa. His debut album, Maxaka (we are relatives) was recorded in 1988. His music was influenced by Paul Ndlovu. He is the third born of Emma Teanet who was also a musician. Peta Teanet was the best and king of Xitsonga Disco Music during his time, he played his music with artists like: Penny Penny who was his friend, Foster Teanet his younger brother, Joe Shirimane and many more. He was one of the xitsonga disco musician. The former ward 11 under Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, Mopani District, has now changed its name to Peta Teanet ward. Disco
Disco is a genre of dance music and a subculture that emerged in the 1970s from the United States' urban nightlife scene. Tsonga People
The Tsonga people ( ts, Vatsonga) are a Bantu ethnic group primarily native to Southern Mozambique and South Africa (Limpopo and Mpumalanga). They speak Xitsonga, a Southern Bantu language. A very small number of Tsonga people are also found in Zimbabwe and Northern Eswatini. The Tsonga people of South Africa share some history with the Tsonga people of Southern Mozambique, and have similar cultural practices; however they differ on the dialects spoken. Shona Language
Shona (; sn, chiShona) is a Bantu language of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. It was codified by the colonial government in the 1950s. According to ''Ethnologue'', Shona, comprising the Zezuru, Korekore and Karanga dialects, is spoken by about 7.5 million people. The Manyika dialect of Shona is listed separately by ''Ethnologue'', and is spoken by 1,025,000 people. Acornhoek
Acornhoek, commonly known as Khenhuk, is a semi-rural town situated in the north eastern areas of Bushbuckridge in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Established in the late 1950s, the town is located about 38 km south-east of Hoedspruit in Limpopo and 165 km north-west of Komatipoort near the border post of Mozambique and eSwatini. The name Acornhoek is variously explained as being an adaptation of Eekhoornhoek ('squirrel corner'); derived from the German surname Eichhorn, and named after the acorn-like fruits of the marula tree. The main languages spoken in Acornhoek are Sepulana and Xitsonga. The Vatsonga occupy the eastern side of the township while most of Mapulana people are settled on the western and southern areas of the township.
