Pet Rescue (TV Series)
''Pet Rescue'' was a British daytime TV series broadcast on Channel 4. Launched in January 1997, it chronicled various pets and animals being rescued, cared for, and then either rehoused or returned to the wild. Produced by Bazal Productions/Endemol for Channel 4, and with a theme tune penned by Simon May, it ran to a set format, which developed little over time: * A central presenter * A location, based around an RSPCA office * A couple of 'show' stories which were intertwined, and reached conclusion within that show - i.e.: animal rehoused/released into wild * A longer story about a particular animal, species or animal issue The program closed with an "advert" for a particular animal which had spent a lot of time in a rescue home, which the public could call in to apply to rehouse. Wendy Turner Webster
Wendy Turner-Webster (born Wendy Turner, 5 June 1967) is an English journalist, television presenter and animal rights campaigner. Early life and education Born 5 June 1967 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Turner-Webster had two sisters, presenter Anthea Turner and Ruth who had spina bifida and died at the age of 15. Turner-Webster grew up in Norton le Moors, Staffordshire, and was educated at St Dominic’s Independent Junior School at Hartshill. Simon May
Simon May (born 15 August 1944) is a British composer. He has composed many British television theme tunes, including ''EastEnders'' and ''Howards' Way'', and the music for the 1988 film ''The Dawning''. Biography Born in Devizes and a pupil of Dauntsey's School, May was a choral scholar at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a degree in modern languages in 1965. While teaching languages and music at Kingston Grammar School, he co-wrote a musical named ''Smike'' with a colleague, history teacher Clive Barnett and songwriting partner, Roger Holman. Mark Evans (TV Presenter)
Mark Evans is a British veterinary surgeon turned television presenter. Early and personal life Educated at Warwick School, Evans failed to get the needed grades at A Levels the first time - he says due to completing restoration work on a Triumph Herald 13/60 convertible. He graduated from the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London, where he won the Professor Formston silver medal for surgery. Veterinarian Evans developed his career in private veterinary practice, mainly with dogs, cats, and horses in the Surrey Hills. He has written 12 books on animal care and welfare. DMAX is a British free-to-air male-oriented TV channel in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Discovery launched the channel in the UK and Ireland market on 8 January 2008 after its initial success in Germany.
