Pesme Iznad Istoka I Zapada
''Pesme iznad istoka i zapada'' (trans. ''Songs above East and West'') is an album comprising the works of various artists, released in 2001, featuring thirteen songs recorded by Serbian Rock music, rock musicians based on the poems of Nikolaj Velimirović, Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović (who has been canonized since the release of the album). In 2021 ''Pesme iznad istoka i zapada'' was polled 69th on the list of 100 Best Serbian Albums Since the Breakup of SFR Yugoslavia. The list was published in the book ''Kako (ni)je propao rokenrol u Srbiji'' (''How Rock 'n' Roll in Serbia (Didn't) Came to an End''). Darkwood Dub
Darkwood Dub was a Serbian alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1988. In the years after the formation the band gradually grew to prominence on the Serbian rock scene, eventually becoming one of the most notable acts of the 1990s and 2000s Serbian and regional scene. Their music spawned many different genres. It was characterized by a mixture of live drumming and electronic percussion with frequent use of slide guitar, synthesizers and samplers and succinct and introspective lyrics, sung with offbeat vocals of Dejan Vučetić. The band cooperated with a number of musicians—most notably prominent jazz musicians Vasil Hadžimanov and Bisera Veletanlić—and composed scores for several films and theatre plays. Ana Stanić
Ana Stanić ( sr-cyr, Ана Станић; born 8 December 1975) is a Serbian pop singer, songwriter, composer, and film producer. Career Music In 1994, she became the singer in dance-pop duo Moby Dick. They recorded three albums, which sold in over 300,000 copies in FR Yugoslavia. They also had one sold-out concert in Sava Centar in Belgrade. As a member of duo, she wrote some of their most successful songs, like "Nostalgija" and "Nema nas više". Ana Stanić's family is part of the Vasojevići clan. In 1998, Ana Stanić left Moby Dick, and started her successful solo career. First solo appearance happened on Budva Festival when she performed a song "Molila sam anđele", which she wrote together with Ivana Pavlović who later formed band Negative. Night Shift is a Serbian hard rock band from Belgrade. History Underground years (1991–2001) The band was formed in 1991, by the Šćepanović brothers, Milan (guitar, vocals) and Danijel (drums, percussion), with their friend Marko Dacić (bass guitar, vocals). Goblini ( sr-Cyrl, Гоблини; trans. ''The Goblins'') are a Serbian punk rock band from Šabac. History Formation, rise to prominence (1992–1999) Guitarist Alen Jovanović and Vladislav Kokotović "Vlada", who lived in Karlovac, played in the band Lorelei until 1991 when they disbanded. Having played with numerous bands from Zagreb, the two moved to Šabac, and in March 1992, with the vocalist Branko Golubović, formed Goblini. The band changed several drummers until Nenad Divnić came to the band. Džukele ( sr-Cyrl, Џукеле; transl. '' The Curs'') were a Serbian punk rock band from Subotica. History The band Phoenix was formed in 1991 by Dragan Neorčić (bass guitar), Slobodan Vukosavljević (guitar, vocals), and Rudolf Aleksijević (drums). Together they recorded their first, seven-track demo at the Classic Studio, and a few months later, in February 1992, the band recorded yet another demo, featuring two songs. Sunshine (Serbian Band)
Sunshine are a Serbian rapcore/ hip hop band from Belgrade. History 1990s The band was formed in 1993 by the vocalist Branko Bojović "Bane", also known as Gumbrowski, who, having previously worked in the Novi Beograd band Green Cool Posse, formed Sunshine with vocalist Đorđe Radivojević, also known as Đole Ramirez. Recording several demo recordings in the early 1980s and being directly influenced by rap music, while spending two years living in the United States during the late 1980s, Bojović decided to present his own interpretation of the genre. Plejboj ( sr-cyr, Плејбој; transliteration for ''Playboy'') is a Serbian rock band from Belgrade. History Formation, rise to prominence (1992-1993) The band was formed in 1992 by former Euforija and Presing members, bassist Roman Goršek, guitarist Igor Petrović and drummer Miladin Radivojević.
