History The name ''Perwillowen'' is reportedly an Aboriginal name for ''pigeons''. It has had many variant spellings over the years including ''Pillywillman'', ''Pillawillamon'', ''Pillewilliman'' and ''Perwillowan''. Perwillowen Provisional School opened on 15 May 1916, becoming Perwillowen State School about 1923. It closed in October 1930 due to low student numbers but reopened on 13 July 1932. Nicklin is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The electorate is centred in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, and stretches north to Black Mountain, south to Palmwoods and Montville, and west to Kenilworth, including Conondale National Park. History According to local sources, Irish immigrants Patrick King and his wife, Mary, acquired a 314 acres (127 Ha) selection along the southern boundary of the ''Nambour Cattle Run'' in 1881. The property was named 'Burnside' derived from the Gaelic term 'burn' (meaning ''creek''), as the selection ran along today's Whalley Creek).
