The Peru women's national volleyball team was one of the dominant forces in women's volleyball in the 1980s, culminating in the silver medal won at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Federación Peruana De Voleibol
The Peruvian Volleyball Federation ( es, Federación Peruana de Voleibol, FPV) is the governing body of volleyball and beach volleyball in Peru. Formed February 24th, 1942, its headquarters are in the capital city of Lima. The FPV is a member of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) and it is affiliated to the ''Instituto Peruano del Deporte'' IPD (''Spanish for Peruvian Sports Institute'') and the Peruvian Olympic Committee. It organizes both the men's and women's Liga Nacional Superior de Voleibol (''Spanish for Senior National Volleyball League''), which are the top level's volleyball competition in Peru. It also organizes international cups which are registered at the FIVB such as the Copa Latina. The organization also administrates the Peru men's national volleyball team and the Peru women's national volleyball team. Maguilaura Dessire Frias Pomiano (born May 28, 1997) is a peruvian volleyball player who plays for the Peru national team. Maguilaura was part of the team that won gold at the 2012 Youth South American Championship, the first gold medal for Peruvian volleyball in that category after 32 years and the first gold in any category in 19 years. Alexandra Miryec Muñoz Lurita (born August 16, 1992) is a Peruvian volleyball player who has represented her country at the 2010 Youth Olympics where she helped her team win a Bronze Medal. She is currently the starting setter for the Peru national team. Career 2009 Alexandra made her debut with the Peru U18 team at the 2009 Youth World Championship, her team finished in 6th place, the best result for any Peruvian team since 1993.
