Peru State College is a public college in Peru, Nebraska. Founded by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1865, making it the first and oldest institution of higher education in Nebraska, it underwent several name changes before receiving its current name. Robert Dinsmore Harrison
Robert Dinsmore Harrison (January 26, 1897 – June 11, 1977) was a Nebraska Republican politician. Born on a farm near Panama, Nebraska on January 26, 1897, he graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College, now known as Peru State College in 1926. He also graduated from University of California in 1928 and University of Nebraska in 1934. In 1918 to 1919, during World War I, he was a sergeant in the Twenty-second Engineers. He was the superintendent of schools in Bradshaw, Nebraska (1926–1929) and De Witt, Nebraska (1929–1937). He was a member of the school board of Norfolk, Nebraska from 1942 to 1951 and a member of the Governor's Highway Advisory Committee. He owned an oil business in Norfolk and a farm in Cedar County, Nebraska. Floyd Fithian
Floyd James Fithian (November 3, 1928June 27, 2003) was an American educator and politician who served as a United States Representative from Indiana as a Democrat. He was one of the forty nine Watergate Babies who won election to the House of Representatives in the wake of the Watergate scandal during the 1974 House elections with Fithian himself defeating Earl Landgrebe, who became infamous for his stalwart defense of President Richard Nixon. He was one of the fourteen members of the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) and believed that the Kennedy assassination in 1963 was orchestrated by members of organized crime. Clair Armstrong Callan
Clair Armstrong Callan (March 29, 1920 – May 28, 2005) was an American Democratic Party politician. Born in Odell, Nebraska, the grandson of Irish immigrants, Callan graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College, now known as Peru State College. He served as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II on a destroyer in the Pacific Theater. He served on the Odell Village Board, Odell School Board, Gage County School Reorganization Board, Gage County Fair Board, and the Gage County Extension Board. He was chairman of both the Governor's Committee on State Government Reorganization Board and the Nebraska Power Review Board. He worked as a farmer, stockman, and in the hardware and farm supply business.
