Perthshire Society Of Natural Science
Perthshire Society of Natural Science (PSNS) is one of the oldest scientific societies in Scotland, having been established in 1867. Under its parent body, it has four sections covering botany, ornithology, archaeology and history and photography. Now based at the A. K. Bell Library in Perth, Scotland, the society was founded by eighteen women, and by the end of the 19th century, around a quarter of its members were female. Whereas specimens were physically collected by the society's members during its early years, now digital photography is used, along with digital data, to create records. Scottish Charity
The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) is a non-ministerial department of the Scottish Government with responsibility for the regulation of charities in Scotland. OSCR is the independent regulator and registrar for more than 24,000 Scottish charities. OSCR is charged with developing a regulatory framework for Scottish charities, where each charity is clear about is rights and responsibilities. This framework should also foster public confidence in charities. OSCR is directly answerable to the Scottish Parliament. OSCR is based in Dundee. Perth Museum
Perth Museum and Art Gallery is the main museum and exhibition space in the city of Perth, Scotland, Perth, Scotland. It is located in the Marshall Monument, named in memory of Thomas Hay Marshall, a former provost of Perth. The museum's location was formerly the site of a late 12th-century motte and bailey castle, built in 1160 to protect the Tay crossing. A great flood in 1209 washed the Castle away. The King, William the Lion, William I, was staying in it at the time and had to escape with his wife and entourage by boat to Scone, Scotland, Scone.
