Personality Crisis (band)
Personality Crisis was a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1979 in Winnipeg. Originally named Le Kille, the band played a complex yet powerful form of 1980s punk. Their slim recorded output remains highly sought by collectors. History The band was formed in 1979 as Le Kille by bassist Mitch Funk, who would remain the group's only consistent member, guitarists Tommy Wharton and Walter Kot, drummer Ed Asselin, singer Doug Bauer, and wind instrumentalist J. LePlume. Bauer, LePlume and Asselin departed the following year, moving Funk to lead vocals, while Wharton left in 1981. The arrival of drummer Mark Halldorson and bassist Richard Duguay coincided with the name change to Personality Crisis later that year. Following Kot's departure in 1982, the group began its final, longest-lasting lineup, including Funk, Duguay (now playing guitar), guitarist Jimmy Green, bassist Duane Eddie, and drummer Jon Card. Winnipeg () is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. Chris Walter (born August 16, 1959) is a Canadian punk rock historian, novelist and founder of the independent publishing company GFY Press. His novels generally portray the darker aspects of humanity such as drug addiction, prostitution, and homelessness. Biography Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Chris was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He became involved with drugs at a very early age and was kicked out of school before leaving home at fifteen, working a succession of menial jobs and collecting welfare for long stretches. Forming his first punk rock band in 1980, Chris soon realized that he was never going to be a musician and began publishing a punk fanzine, ''Pages of Rage'', which gave him his first taste of creative writing, although he wouldn't complete his first novel, ''Beer'', until he was almost forty. Better Youth Organization Records (BYO) is a Los Angeles, California based independent punk rock record label created by Shawn and Mark Stern, two of the three brothers of the California punk rock band Youth Brigade (the third being Adam Stern who plays bass but does not run BYO). Aim and history BYO aims to promote punk and other alternative youth cultures in a positive light. BYO released records by 7 Seconds, Agression, and SNFU in the 1980s, as well as Leatherface, Kosher, The Unseen, Throw Rag, Jon Cougar Concentration Camp, Automatic 7 and The Briefs.
