Permanent Slow Fade
Permanent Slow Fade were a four-piece guitar band based in London. They were in existence between 1999 and 2001. Consisting of guitar, bass, drums and vocals they were mainly in the indie/dream pop genre. Their vocalist, Brigid Dawson brought a bluesy-style vocal to the music, which also had hints of psychedelia in it, in a similar vein to singers like Grace Slick. The group disbanded in late 2001 when Dawson returned to California. Thereafter she joined garage rock band, Thee Oh Sees Osees are an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1997, now based in Los Angeles, California. Brigid Dawson
Brigid Dawson sang and played keyboard and tambourine for Thee Oh Sees. She is noted for her "whimsical" harmonies and is credited with helping front man John Dwyer write melodies. Reviewing a show they played in New York, Impose Magazine wrote, "Brigid Dawson's backing vocals are the band's silver lining". Soundscapes noted in an album review, "Once again, Dwyer’s secret weapon is Brigid Dawson, whose vocal interplay gives them a leg-up in the male-dominated garage rock scene." Her voice has been compared to Kim Deal and Exene Cervenka, among others. Brigid occasionally performed as "Mix Tapes" with Meric Long of The Dodos. She is a UK native by way of San Marin. Grace Slick
Grace Slick (born Grace Barnett Wing; October 30, 1939) is an American singer-songwriter, artist, and painter. Slick was a key figure in San Francisco's early psychedelic music scene in the mid-1960s. With a music career spanning four decades, she first performed with the Great Society, but is best known for her work with Jefferson Airplane and the subsequent successor bands Jefferson Starship and Starship. Slick and Jefferson Airplane first achieved fame with their 1967 album '' Surrealistic Pillow'', which included the top-ten ''Billboard'' hits "White Rabbit" and " Somebody to Love". She provided the lead vocals on both tracks. With Starship, she sang co-lead for two number one hits, "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". She also released four solo albums.
