Paul Mark Oakenfold (born 30 August 1963), formerly known mononymously as Oakenfold, is an English record producer, remixer and trance DJ. He has provided over 100 remixes for over 100 artists including U2, Moby, Madonna, Britney Spears, Massive Attack, the Cure, New Order, the Rolling Stones, the Stone Roses and Michael Jackson. Oakenfold was voted the No. 1 DJ in the World twice in 1998 and 1999 by ''DJ Magazine''. Biography Early life Oakenfold was born on 30 August 1963 at Mile End Hospital. "Idioteque" is a song by the English rock band Radiohead, released on their fourth album, ''Kid A'' (2000). In 2008, the song was featured on '' Radiohead: The Best Of.'' A live version appears on the 2001 EP '' I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings''. "Idioteque" was named one of the best songs of the decade by ''Pitchfork''. In 2021, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked it number 48 on their list of the " 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Recording "Idioteque" began with a rhythm created by Jonny Greenwood on a modular synthesiser. Feeling it "needed chaos", he experimented with found sounds and sampling. He recorded 50 minutes of improvisation and gave it to singer Thom Yorke, who took a short sequence and used it to write the song. Yorke said: "Some of it was just 'what?', but then there was this section of about 40 seconds long in the middle of it that was absolute genius, and I just cut that up." The melody is based on the original melody "La mort du héros" ("Death of the hero") written by Eduard Artemyev for the 1979 Soviet movie ''Siberiade''. The song was the first by a Russian act to enter the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number three in December 2001 and earning a silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Elsewhere, the song reached the top 10 in Flanders, Ireland, and the Netherlands while also charting in Australia, Finland, and Wallonia. PPK (russian: ППК) is a Russian trance duo based primarily in Rostov-on-Don. The group consists of and . The name 'PPK' is the abbreviation of founding members' initials; K was for short-time member DJ Kordj (Roman Korzhov). Career PPK became known internationally due to their single "ResuRection", which was available to download for free on mp3.com. Steve Helstrip, known by the stage name The Thrillseekers, is an English DJ and record producer. His debut single was "Synaesthesia", released in 1999. Helstrip has worked under the guises of En Motion, Insigma, Rapid Eye and Hydra. He also works in remixing, having remixed work by Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Timo Maas, Sonique, Chicane, Blank & Jones, and Seb Fontaine. He owns his own record label, 'Adjusted Music'. Career Helstrip started out making trance music while working for the computer games developer Manic Media. Whilst living in Chipping Norton, on the Oxfordshire border, he recorded "Synaesthesia" with a home studio. Richard Mowatt, commonly known by his stage name Solarstone (formerly spelled Solar Stone), is an Irish trance DJ and producer based in Wales. The music project Solarstone was founded as a trio, and also used the pseudonyms Young Parisians, Liquid State and Z2. Over the years, Solarstone has developed a reputation for keeping to the original and classic trance sound. He is considered to be a veteran by fans in the trance music scene. Arthur Baker (born April 22, 1955) is an American record producer and DJ best known for his work with hip hop artists like Afrika Bambaataa and Planet Patrol, as well as British group New Order. Black Box is an Italian house music group popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group is currently made up of DJ Daniele Davoli, classically trained clarinet teacher Valerio Semplici, keyboardist and electronic musician Mirko Limoni, and vocalist Celestine Walcott-Gordon. French fashion model Katrin Quinol joined the act in 1989 and became the official face of Black Box, appearing on the cover of their single and album releases as well as in music videos, including the hit "Ride on Time", which was the highest-selling single of 1989 in the UK. Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980.
