''Perfect Life'' ( zh, 完美生活) is a 2008 Chinese-Hong Kong film by Emily Tang and produced by director Jia Zhangke (who received a co-producer credit) and his company, Xstream Pictures. Emily Tang
Emily Tang () is a Chinese director, writer and actress whose films have won awards at various international film festivals. Her work include ''Conjugation (2001)'', ''Perfect Life 2008'' and ''All Apologies (2012)''. Biography Tang was born in 1970 in Sichuan Province and grew up in Beijing. She studied French literature at Peking University and later earned a master's degree in Drama from the China Academy of Art. After attending the Central Academy of Drama to study directing, she worked at Chinese Central Television producing documentaries. In 2001 she made her directorial debut with the film ''Conjugation'' (动词变位) for which she received special mention at the Locarno Film Festival. ''Petition'' () is a documentary released in 2009 by Chinese independent filmmaker Zhao Liang. The film was screened as a Special Screening of the official selection of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Over the course of 12 years (1996-2008), director Zhao Liang follows the "petitioners", who travel from all over China to the nation's capital, Beijing, to make complaints about injustices committed by authorities in their home towns and villages. The film is a romance recounting the reunion of four college friends and lovers after ten years.
