Percival Noronha
Percival Ivo Vital e Noronha (26 July 1923 – 19 August 2019) was an Indian historian, heritage conservationist, and bureaucrat. In 1982, he established the Association of Friends of Astronomy, the first astronomy club in Goa, India. Noronha held an officer position in the Indian administration during his tenure in the Portuguese India, Portuguese administration (''Estado da Índia''). Early life Percival Ivo Vital e Noronha was born on 26 July 1923, in Margão, Goa, during Portuguese India, which was part of Portuguese Empire (now in India). He was born to Antonio Jose Jonas Noronha and Maria Aurora Anastasia da Silveira Vital, who were local landlords, commonly known as ''bhatkars''. His father, Antonio, hailed from Loutolim, while his mother, Maria, hailed from Ilhas. Both his parents were based in Margão. Career Noronha contributed to the cultural development of Goa. Fontainhas (or Bairro das Fontainhas, in Portuguese) is an old Latin Quarter in Panjim, capital city of the state of Goa, India. It maintains its Portuguese influence, particularly through its architecture, which includes narrow and picturesque winding streets like those found in many European cities, old villas and buildings with projecting balconies painted in the traditional tones of pale yellow, green, or blue, and roofs made of red coloured tiles. Campal
Campal is a neighborhood located in the northern part of the city of Panaji, capital of the Indian state of Goa. It is completely located on the island of Tiswadi, one of the talukas in the state of Goa. The neighborhood name derives from "Campal de Dom Manuel", after Dom Manuel de Portugal e Castro, who developed it as a commercial area in 1830. Local landmarks On the left side of the road into Campal there is a large four-metre cannon.
