Per Knudsen (Danish Footballer)
Per Knudsen (2 June 1925 – 8 February 1999) was a Danish footballer, who played for AGF as a defender. He was also a member of the Danish team which competed at the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. The Football tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics was won by Hungary. The games signalled the arrival (to Western Europeans at least) of the Hungarian national football team – the "Magical Magyars". Ferenc Puskás later said of the 1952 competition: "It was during the Olympics that our football first started to flow with real power." Viby J (or just Viby) is a former town and now a district, in the southwestern part of Aarhus in Denmark. The district has almost 30,000 inhabitants. The "J" stands for Jutland, as there is another town called Viby on the island of Zealand, officially referred to as Viby Sj and also a village on Funen. Etymology and origin Viby derives from the Old Norse words ''vé'' and ''býr'', meaning holy place and town respectively. '' Vi'' is a word represented in many place names in both Denmark and Sweden. The football tournament of the 1948 Summer Olympics was won by Sweden. This remains Sweden's only international title at a senior male football level and was the first international appearance of the trio that would later be known as Gre-No-Li dominating the Italian league at A.C. Milan in the 1950s. It was the first international football tournament ever to be broadcast on television, with the semi-finals, final and bronze medal play-off all being broadcast live in full on the BBC Television Service.
