People And Justice Union
The People and Justice Union (centrists, nationalists) ( lt, Tautos ir teisingumo sąjunga (centristai, tautininkai)), formerly known as the Lithuanian Centre Party ( lt, Lietuvos Centro partija) is an agrarian-centrist political party in Lithuania. Since the Seimas elections in 2016, it has been represented in the parliament and has also had representatives at the municipal level. The leader of the party is MP Naglis Puteikis. Its honorary leader was noted Lithuanian philosopher and nationalist thinker Romualdas Ozolas. In the parliamentary election of 2016, the Lithuanian Centre Party participated in a coalition (''Anti-corruption coalition of Kristupas Krivickas and Naglis Puteikis'') with the Lithuanian Pensioners' Party and received 6.1% of the popular vote. Yellow
Yellow is the color between green and orange on the spectrum of light. It is evoked by light with a dominant wavelength of roughly 575585 nm. Lithuanian Nationalist And Republican Union
The Lithuanian Nationalist and Republican Union ( lt, Lietuvių tautininkų ir respublikonų sąjunga or LTS), also known as the Nationalists (), is a right-wing nationalist political party in Lithuania. It claims to be the continuation of the Lithuanian Nationalist Union, the ruling party in 1926–1940. The party was re-established when Lithuania declared independence in 1990 and performed increasingly poorly in the elections. In 2008, it merged with the Homeland Union, but demerged in 2011. In 2017, it merged with the Republican Party. The party promotes traditional family values, advocates for Lithuania's independence from the European Union, opposes immigration. Gitanas Nausėda (born 19 May 1964) is a Lithuanian economist, politician and banker who is serving as the ninth and incumbent President of Lithuania since 2019. He was previously director of monetary policy at the Bank of Lithuania from 1996 until 2000 and chief economist to the chairman of SEB bankas from 2008 until 2018. Nausėda ran as an independent in the 2019 presidential election, which he won with over 66% of the vote in the runoff. 2019 European Parliament Election In Lithuania
The 2019 European Parliament election in Lithuania was held on 26 May 2019 to elect delegation from Lithuania to the European Parliament. It was part of the wider 2019 European election. The second round of the 2019 Lithuanian presidential election took place at the same time. 301 candidates from 16 parties stood for 11 seats. Results The Homeland Union received the most votes (19.74 per cent) and most seats (3), although it won only in 12 (or just over one-fifth of) municipalities. Alytus
Alytus is a city with municipal rights in southern Lithuania. It is the capital of Alytus County. Its population in 2022 was 53,925. Alytus is the historical centre of the Dzūkija region. The city lies on the banks of the Nemunas River. The major roads linking Vilnius, Kaunas, Lazdijai (border with Poland), and Hrodna in Belarus pass through Alytus. Klaipėda (; ; german: Memel; pl, Kłajpeda; russian: Клайпеда; sgs, Klaipieda) is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. Naglis Puteikis (born 2 September 1964) is a Lithuanian politician and member of the Seimas. Biography Naglis Puteikis was born on 2 September 1964 in Vilnius. In 1984, he graduated from the Faculty of History at Vilnius University and worked with preservation of historical heritage. Puteikis headed the Inspectorate of Cultural Heritage and, later, the Department for Protection of Cultural Valuables. Puteikis joined Homeland Union in 1996. In 1997, he briefly served on the Seventh Seimas, having been elected through the party's electoral list in 1996, but not initially taking his seat in the parliament. Between 1997 and 2001 he served on the Council of Klaipėda City Municipality. Puteikis again served on the parliament between 2011 and 2012. 2016 Lithuanian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Lithuania on 9 and 23 October 2016 to elect the 141 members of the Seimas. 71 were elected in single-member constituencies using the two-round system, and the remaining 70 in a single nationwide constituency using proportional representation. The first round was held on 9 October and the second round on 23 October. The elections were won by the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union with 22.45% of the popular vote and 54 seats, up from just 4.05% and a single seat in the previous elections in 2012. The success of the party was attributed to voter dissatisfaction with established parties in light of low wages and persistent emigration. Homeland Union, the largest opposition party in the preceding Seimas, finished a distant second with 31 seats, though winning a slightly larger share of the national vote.
