Boholano People
The Boholano people, also called Bol-anon, refers to the people who live in the island province of Bohol. They are part of the wider Bisaya ethnolinguistic group, who constitute the largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group. Language Boholano is a dialect of Cebuano that is spoken on the island of Bohol in the Philippines, which is a Visayan speech variety, although it is sometimes described as a separate language by some linguists and native speakers. Boholano, especially the dialects used in Central Bohol, can be distinguished from other Cebuano dialects by a few phonetic changes. The "y" sound in Cebuano becomes "j" ("iya" in Cebuano becomes "ija"), the "k" sound sometimes becomes "h" ("ako" in Cebuano becomes "aho"), the "l" sound sometimes if it is used in the second or following syllable becomes "w" ("kulang" in Cebuano becomes "kuwang"). José Clarín
José Aniceto Clarín y Butalid (December 12, 1879 – June 2, 1935) was a Filipino politician who served as the 3rd president ''pro tempore'' of the Senate of the Philippines from 1934 until his death in 1935. Clarín was born on December 12, 1879, to Don Aniceto Velez Clarín, first civil governor of the province of Bohol. Clarín was educated at the University of San Carlos in Cebu primary education and then in Escuela de Derecho de Manila for his law degree earned in 1904. José Abueva
José Veloso Abueva (May 25, 1928 – August 18, 2021) was a Filipino political scientist and public administration scholar who served as the 16th president of the University of the Philippines. A Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) awardee for political science in 1962, he has devoted much of his career in academic circles. He has been faculty member of the National College of Public Administration and Governance of the University of the Philippines Diliman and visiting professor at Brooklyn College, City University of New York and Yale University. He has also worked with the United Nations University in Tokyo. Cecilio Putong
Cecilio Kapirig Putong (February 1, 1891 – January 26, 1980) was a Filipino scholar, educator, writer, UNESCO fellow, author. In 1952, he became the Secretary of Education of the Philippines. He was one of the most brilliant minds from Bohol having a reported IQ of 138 (Very Superior) based on Otis Intelligence Scale Test. Early life His parents were Apolinario Putong and Gregoria Kapirig, both from Tagbilaran, Bohol. His father was an assistant band conductor and his mother was a housewife who, upon the death of her husband at an early age, had to be a vendor to raise two children, Cirilo and Cecilio. Loon, Bohol
Loon, officially the Municipality of Loon ( ceb, Munisipalidad sa Loon; tgl, Bayan ng Loon), is a 2nd class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Bohol, Philippines which was established in 1753. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 44,224 people. Loon lies halfway between Tagbilaran and Tubigon, Bohol, Tubigon, Bohol's major ports of entry, each of which is only 40 minutes away by public utility buses, jeepneys and vans-for-hire that frequently ply the north–south route. Loon has one provincial secondary port and six fishing ports. The secondary port is being converted into the Loon Bohol International Cruise Ship Port. Edwin Lacierda () is a Filipino lawyer and technology entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of the online payments company, PayMongo. He was a member of the Philippine Cabinet and Presidential Spokesperson of President Benigno S. Aquino III. Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap (born January 10, 1990) is a Filipino politician who is known as a former president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) or Youth Council in the Philippines and the incumbent city mayor of Tagbilaran, Bohol since 2022.
