People's Union (Belgium)
People's Union (, , abbr. VU) was a Flemish nationalist political party in Belgium, formed in 1954 as a successor to the Christian Flemish People's Union. The Volksunie defined itself as a big tent and catch-all party that combined support from the left and right with the main goal of focusing on increased Flemish autonomy and establishing more linguistic and political rights for the Flemish community. The party also based its platform on civic nationalism over radicalism in order to foster a more legitimate image. It also contained members sympathetic to federalism and full separatism, with its stance on whether to secede Flanders from Belgium or redefine Belgium as a federal nation in which Flanders had devolved power changing with its leadership. The Spanish People's Union ({{langx, es, Unión del Pueblo Español; UDPE) was a conservative and Spanish nationalist political party in Spain. History UDPE was created in 1975, initially under the name of People's Alliance, on 11 February 1975. The group changed its name to Spanish People's Union the 22 May 1975. It was officially recognized and definitely by the Movimiento Nacional on 28 July 1975. The "political associations" were the result of development of the Organic Law of the State of 1966, and sought to promote a very limited and controlled "pluralism" within Francoist Spain. The Spanish People's Union was led by the, then Minister of Education, Cruz Martínez Esteruelas and the general secretary of the Movimiento Nacional Adolfo Suárez. People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) is a human rights body formed in India in 1976 by Jayaprakash Narayan, as the People's Union for Civil Liberties and Democratic Rights (PUCLDR). Background Indian emergency Jayaprakash Narayan was a Gandhian leader in India after independence. When Indira Gandhi was found guilty of violating electoral laws by the Allahabad High Court, Narayan called for her to resign, and advocated a program of social transformation. He asked the military and police to disregard unconstitutional and immoral orders. The People's Freedom Union was a left wing American political group which existed from 1919 to 1920. The Leonese People's Union (, Leonese: ''Unión del Pueblu Llionés'', UPL) is a regional political party in Castilla y León, Spain.
