People's Artist Of Albania
The People's Artist () was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts (theatre, music, cinema and art). It was created by law in 1960 and amended in 1980. The title is no longer given in Albania after the law was amended in 1996. The equivalent of it became the "Grand Master of Work" title, that was also substituted with the "Grand Master" title after a 2001 amendment of the 1996 law. Creation Founded on 26 October 1960, the honorary title of “Artist of the People” was bestowed upon singers, composers, orchestra directors, musicians, stage managers, ballet dancers, and actors in theater, cinema, and opera whose works displayed great artistic value towards the development of the performing arts in the People's Socialist Republic of Albania. Xhanfise Keko
Xhanfise Keko (27 January 1928 – 22 December 2007), born in Gjirokastër, Albania, was an Albanian film director. Keko was one of the seven founders of "New Albania" Film Studio ( sq, Kinostudio "Shqiperia e Re"), present day "Albafilm-Tirana". She was the first female director and directed some 25 different movies between 1952 and 1984 including the 1975 film, ''Beni Walks by Himself'' and '' Tomka and His Friends'', both awarded at the Giffoni International Film Festival. Her films were generally targeted toward younger audiences but contemporary critics praise her "sensitive approach to her material, a technical facility outstripping her contemporaries and a highly original voice". She was the mother of well-known Albanian writer Teodor Keko. Skënder Sallaku
Skënder Sallaku (25 January 1935 – 11 February 2014) was an Albanian comedian and actor, recipient of the People's Artist of Albania award. He was also a notable national champion of Albania in Greco-Roman wrestling. Pandi Raidhi
Pandi Raidhi (14 April 1921 – 18 July 1999) was an Albanian film and theatre actor, and recipient of the People's Artist of Albania recognition. Biography Raidhi was born on 14 April 1921 in Korçë in southern Albania. He started his artistic career in July 11 1920 in the variety show ''Dasma Korçare'' (Wedding of Korçë), where he conquested the public immediately. Raidhi participated in the National Liberation Movement as part of the Anti-Fascist Youth organization, and afterwards, in 1948 after finishing high school he entered the National Theatre of Albania. In 1950 he returned to the Andon Zako Çajupi Theatre of Korçë where he would subsequently spend 40 years of acting. He debuted in cinematography in the movie Tana of 1958. Furthermore, he would interpret in another 36 roles. Overall Raidhi has interpreted in around 200 roles in drama, comedies, operettas and movies. Raidhi died in Berat on 11 July 1999. Sandër Prosi
Aleksander "Sandër" Prosi (6 January 1920 – 24 March 1985; rup, Sandãr Prosi) was an Albanian film and theater actor and violin player. He was given the People's Artist of Albania award by the Albanian government. He is considered one of the greatest Albanian actors of all times. Life and work Prosi was born in Shkodër, Albania, in January 1920. His family moved to Tirana when he was 14, where he graduated at Qemal Stafa High School. Robert Ndrenika
Robert Ndrenika (born 10 January 1942) is an Albanian actor and former politician. He was honored with the People's Artist of Albania award in 1988. He was active in films, but also in theater and television performing hundreds of leading and Supporting role, supporting roles. Biography Ndrenika studied at the Qemal Stafa High School, in Tirana, Albania. Ndrenika has been a member of Parliament of Albania during 1992–1996, representing Democratic Party of Albania. In 1998, Ndrenika was honoured with People's Artist of Albania decoration, becoming one of the few actors to have this decoration. In 2012, Ndrenika was decorated with Honor of Nation Order by president Bamir Topi for his contributions in Albanian cinematography. Ndrenika has two daughters. Avni Mula
Avni Mula (Gjakova, 4 January 1928 – Tirana, 29 October 2020) was an Albanian singer, composer, and musician. For his contribution to the arts, he received two of the highest awards from the Albanian government: the People's Artist of Albania decoration and the Honor of the Nation () decoration. Violeta Manushi (6 March 1926 – 26 July 2007) was an Albanian actress. She was honored with the People's Artist of Albania. She is best known in Albania for her portrayal of Teto Ollga (Auntie Ollga), a symbolic character which followed her for much of her career.
