Pandi Raidhi
Pandi Raidhi (14 April 1921 – 18 July 1999) was an Albanian film and theatre actor, and recipient of the People's Artist of Albania recognition. Biography Raidhi was born on 14 April 1921 in Korçë in southern Albania. He started his artistic career in July 11 1920 in the variety show ''Dasma Korçare'' (Wedding of Korçë), where he conquested the public immediately. Raidhi participated in the National Liberation Movement as part of the Anti-Fascist Youth organization, and afterwards, in 1948 after finishing high school he entered the National Theatre of Albania. In 1950 he returned to the Andon Zako Çajupi Theatre of Korçë where he would subsequently spend 40 years of acting. He debuted in cinematography in the movie Tana of 1958. Furthermore, he would interpret in another 36 roles. Overall Raidhi has interpreted in around 200 roles in drama, comedies, operettas and movies. Raidhi died in Berat on 11 July 1999. Korçë (; sq-definite, Korça) is the eighth most populous city of the Republic of Albania and the seat of Korçë County and Korçë Municipality. ''Beni walks on his own'' ( sq, Beni ecën vetë) is a 1975 Albanian comedy family film directed by Xhanfize Keko and written by Kiço Blushi. Summary Beni is an eight-year-old boy living in Korçë with his parents. Beni leads a sheltered life. His mother is very protective and doesn't let him play outside. When Beni is able to go outside, the neighborhood children make fun of him, often calling him a "scaredy cat" and a "mama's boy." One day when his uncle Thomai is visiting, he sees Beni crying after the other children took his horse. Thomai decides to take Beni on horseback to a distant village where he teaches him about life and how to be a man. In the village Beni learns a great deal and blossoms into a mature boy. On the way back to the city Beni doesn't need to ride on horseback, he is able to walk all the way home on his own. ''The Lady from the City'' ( sq, Zonja nga qyteti) is a 1976 Albanian comedy film directed by Piro Milkani, starring Violeta Manushi as Teto Ollga. Plot The film tells the story of Ollga, an old lady from the city that moved to the village to stay with her daughter, a young beautiful girl. Under socialism, young people were routinely sent to villages after graduation to work in order to get experience as well as contribute to previously underserved communities in their field of study. Her daughter, Meli, ( Rajmonda Bulku) studied as a nurse. Teto Ollga had an attitude of superiority toward villagers, but at the end, she finds herself comfortable among them and she becomes useful as she starts working as chef.
