Penycwm
Penycwm ( Welsh for "Head of the valley") is a small settlement on the A487 road near Newgale, Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is part of the community (formerly civil parish) of Brawdy. At the other end of a valley to the coast is Penycwm beach, also known as Pwll March. Penycwm is close to the popular Newgale Sands, on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The village's Independent Chapel, built in Gothic style in stone in 1870, had become a private residence by 2004. To the northeast is Llethr, an 18th and 19th house, owned by the Thomas family until 1823, but in a poor state of repair when inspected in 1993. Brawdy () is a village, parish and Community (Wales), community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Etymology The Welsh language Welsh placename, name appears to be an archaic form of "Bridget" and the parish may originally have been Llanfreudeth. The English name is a corruption of the Welsh. A487 Road
The A487, officially the Fishguard to Bangor Trunk Road, is a trunk road in Wales that follows the coast from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in the south, to Bangor, Gwynedd, in the north. Route The road starts at a junction with the A40 in Haverfordwest and travels northwest to St David's to switch northeast through Fishguard, Cardigan, Aberaeron, Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and Corris. Through the town of Fishguard, the road width in places is a very narrow single lane, leading to many traffic issues, especially with heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). From 2010, articulated HGVs were diverted from the section between Cardigan and Fishguard because of this, and routed instead via the A478 road to Penblewin, then the A40 to Fishguard via Haverfordwest. Newgale
Newgale () is a village with an almost stretch of beach in the parish of Roch, Pembrokeshire, West Wales. The beach is situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and has rugged coastal scenery with the path winding up and down the cliffs. Newgale is one of over 40 Welsh Blue Flag beaches, which means it has the top certification for quality, cleanliness and facilities. Name Newgale phonetically is rendered in Welsh as Niwgwl. A community () is a division of land that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Pembrokeshire Coast Path
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path (), often called the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, is a designated National Trail in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales. Established in 1970, it is a long-distance walking route, mostly at cliff-top level, with a total of of ascent and descent. At its highest point – Pen yr afr, on Cemaes Head – it reaches a height of , and at its lowest point – Sandy Haven crossing, near Milford Haven – it is just above low water.
