Pentti Matikainen
Pentti Matikainen (born October 5, 1950 in Joensuu, Finland) is a Finnish hockey coach and general manager. He was selected the SM-liiga coach of the year in 1984. As the coach of the Finnish national ice hockey team, he led Finland to silver medals in the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1992 World Championships, and to third place in the 1991 Canada Cup. Matikainen was the coach of HIFK from 1987 to 1990 and its CEO from 2001 to 2008. Joensuu
Joensuu (; krl, Jovensuu; ) is a city and municipality in North Karelia, Finland, located on the northern shore of Lake Pyhäselkä (northern part of Lake Saimaa) at the mouth of the Pielinen River (''Pielisjoki''). It was founded in 1848. The population of Joensuu is (), and the economic region of Joensuu has a population of 115,000. It is the largest city in Finland. Hannu Jortikka
Hannu Jortikka (born 16 December 1956) is a Finnish former ice hockey player and current coach.http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=3167 Hannu Jortikka on Eliteprospects.com Jortikka spent most of his playing career in TPS. He was a part of the championship-winning TPS team in 1976. He had to retire in 1983 due to injury. Jortikka was the coach of the World Champion U20 national team of Finland in 1987, the tournament which is famous for the Punch-up in Piestany. Juhani Wahlsten
Juhani Jorma Kalevi Wahlsten (13 January 19389 June 2019) was a Finnish professional ice hockey player and ice hockey coach who worked as an exercise and gymnastics teacher in Finland. He was also known by the nickname "Juuso". He also established and helped guide the early development of ringette in Finland, the first European country to do so. During his ice hockey career, Wahlsten played in Finland's SM-sarja for a number of teams including KalPa, Ilves, HJK Helsinki (HJK), and TPS. After his playing career finished he went on to become a coach. Wahlsten was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986 and was later inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in 2006. Wahlsten is considered to be the "Father of Ringette" in Finland. The Juuso Wahlsten Trophy, named in his honour, is awarded during the World Ringette Championships to the World Ringette Junior champions. Curt Lindström
Curt "Curre" Lindström (born 26 November 1940) is a Swedish ice hockey coach. Career on international level He coached Team Finland from 1993 to 1997, winning Finland's first Ice Hockey World Championships gold medal in 1995, and a silver world championships medal as well as Olympic bronze. He has won the same medals in coaching duties with Team Sweden, and has also coached the Latvian national men's ice hockey team. Career on club level Lindström stepped in to coach Ilves in the Finnish SM-liiga in the 2004–2005 season after a disappointing start to the season, and led the team to the quarterfinals, where they were beaten by Jokerit. In November 2005, Lindström was hired as a new head coach to Jokerit after the team had a miserable early season under former player and rookie coach Waltteri Immonen. Rauno Korpi
Rauno "Rane" Korpi (born June 25, 1951 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish ice hockey coach. He coached Tappara to three consecutive Finnish Championships in SM-liiga during the years 1986-1988. He has also won one additional Finnish Championship Gold, one Silver medal and one Bronze medal. Korpi has been chosen three times as The Coach of the Year in Finland.
