Penseroso Bluff
Penseroso Bluff () is a prominent bluff (1,945 m) surmounting the narrow, northern neck of the Daniels Range, 10 nautical miles (18 km) northeast of Mount Nero, in the Usarp Mountains. The Northern Party of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE), 1963–64, reached this bluff in gloomy weather. The feature appeared dark and sombre; hence, the party gave the name from Milton's "Il Penseroso ''Il Penseroso'' ("the thinker") is a poem by John Milton, first found in the 1645/1646 quarto of verses ''The Poems of Mr. John Milton, both English and Latin'', published by Humphrey Moseley. Daniels Range
The Daniels Range is a principal mountain range of the Usarp Mountains, about 80 km (50 mi) long and 16 km (10 mi) wide, bounded to the north by Harlin Glacier and to the south by Gressitt Glacier. The range was mapped by USGS from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–63. Named by US-ACAN after Ambassador Paul C. Mount Nero
Mount Nero () is a mountain (2,520 m) surmounting the west wall of Daniels Range 3 nautical miles (6 km) north of Forsythe Bluff, in the Usarp Mountains. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–63. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Leonard L. Nero, United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP) research assistant to Dr. J. S. Zaneveld and lead diver for the first planned winter diving expedition (WINFLY I)in 1967 and latter biologist and assistant manager of laboratories at McMurdo Station, 1968–69. Usarp Mountains
The Usarp Mountains are a major Antarctic mountain range, lying west of the Rennick Glacier and trending north to south for about . The feature is bounded to the north by Pryor Glacier and the Wilson Hills. These mountains were discovered and first photographed from aircraft of the U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in 1946. They were first sighted and entered by the U.S. Victoria Land Traverse 1959-1960 (VLT), and the first ascent of Mount Welcome was made by John G. Weihaupt, Alfred Stuart, Claude Lorius, and Arnold Heine of that traverse team. The mountains were completely mapped by the United States Geological Survey from VLT reports, U.S. Navy air photos from 1960–63, and subsequent surveys. Northern Party
The Northern Party was a regionalist political party in Northern England, founded by leader Michael Dawson and former Blackpool MP Harold Elletson in March 2015 to contest five marginal seats in Lancashire at the 2015 general election. The party was one of three regionalist parties contesting the general election in the north of England. Members included former activists from the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green parties. Founding Michael Dawson, a former Executive Committee member of the Labour Campaign for Human Rights, is the nephew of former MP for Lancaster Hilton Dawson who now runs the North East Party. At the launch of the party he said "We've been planning this for months. This is a Northern rebellion against a system that has failed the North." ''Il Penseroso'' ("the thinker") is a poem by John Milton, first found in the 1645/1646 quarto of verses ''The Poems of Mr. John Milton, both English and Latin'', published by Humphrey Moseley. It was presented as a companion piece to ''L'Allegro'', a vision of poetic mirth. The speaker of this reflective ode dispels "vain deluding Joys" from his mind in a ten-line prelude, before invoking "divinest Melancholy" to inspire his future verses. The melancholic mood is idealised by the speaker as a means by which to "attain / To something like prophetic strain," and for the central action of ''Il Penseroso'' – which, like ''L'Allegro'', proceeds in couplets of iambic tetrameter – the speaker speculates about the poetic inspiration that would transpire if the imagined goddess of Melancholy he invokes were his Muse. In geography and geology, a cliff is an area of rock which has a general angle defined by the vertical, or nearly vertical.
